When filing income tax do you have to claim a childs SSI {disability for the child} or the money paid to you by the non custodal parent for support of the child? I'd assume since it is unearned income you do not. Also can the return be directly deposited into an account without the payee's name on it? Meaning my sugnifigant other and I do not have a joint account but he wants to deposit it into my account, his name is not on the account. Or would we need to have a hardcopy check mailed to us, and have him sign his name then me sign mine for the deposit?

What are the tax filing requirements for a final return? A spouse of a friend of mine passed away this year. I believe that last year, they filed under the status of Married, filing jointly. From what I've read from the internet and Yahoo Answers (thx!) that she can probably file again as Married, filing jointly. I believe that her husband had a will and named a son (from a previous marriage) as the executor of the will.

In that case, when she files, does the executor have to sign the return where her husband's name would usually be? Or can she still sign it as surviving spouse? Also, who's responsibility is it to prepare the final return, the surviving spouse or the executor? They really aren't in much speaking terms, so if they can't come to an agreement to create a Joint tax return, what are her options for her taxes? Can she just go ahead and file as Married, filing separately, and let the executor do the final return for her deceased spouse separately? Thanks.

Here is the situation....My spouse and I are separated and I want to file married-separate. She wants to file jointly. I refuse to file jointly with her due to the fear that I will not receive my share of our return (she's that deceiving) . Here is the problem....she will not give me her social security number, which is information that I need in order to file separate. Tells me that if I don't file jointly, then I won't be filing. Any ideas on what avenue I can take to get my taxes filed separate? Thanks in advance for any replies.

Hi, I'm a therapist of 2 years, and I bought a treatment couch last year. Normally I just buy products to use on clients, they pay me for the treatment and I bank the cheques, so accounting is very easy. My question is - how do I...include this couch in my accounts. Tried getting help before now, but none forthcoming. Have heard that this couch is, perhaps, 'capital'? and that I should be only including a % of it per year for 3 years...? Does that make sense to anyone - because I'm lost and have been putting off doing my self assessment because of this. Daft I know - I dont have enough money to ask an accountant at their office, I'm afraid. Any accurate information would be gratefully received - in plain English too (I'm not good with technical-speak).
thank you in advance.

I registered as a partnership in late November, so we were ready for when we were going to start making money. We knew we wouldnt make any money till mid february, and this has been the case.
As we have made any money, do we need to fill in a tax return or not, seeing as we only started in November and havent made any money yet ?
