I contracted work out to a company. They supplied me with a bill of sale for their services. Do I have to send them a 1099?

Yes if you paid them more than $600. Otherwise, no it isn't necessary.

Not if they are a corporation, except if the corporation is a law firm. You also do not have to send one if the amount is less then $600. Most other scenarios would require a 1099.

You should send all companies/contractors you deal with a W-9, which is a form that allows you to determine if you may need to send a 1099.

was it for more than $600? usually youre not required to send 1099s to a company thats incorporated. i would send them a 1099 if they were self-employed individuals or a partnership.
