Have they at least deducted Social Security and Medicare? That would be 7.65% of your wages. If they have done that, the rest of the advice you have received applies.
If they have not, they are treating you as self-employed and, in addition to the tax, you will be expected to pay the employer's share of the Social Security and Medicare as well. If this is the case, please see a CPA or Enrolled Agent as soon as possible. Depending on how much you earned you may find that they will save you more than their fee just by sorting this bit out. You will also have peace of mind, which is not $27 but, actually, priceless (little joke there for Block employees).
Please do not go to a chain-store preparer like H & R Block or Jackson Hewitt. They are not equipped to sort this particular problem out at this time of year.

First, the deadline for filing 2006 taxes is April 16, 2007 (usually April 15, but that's Sunday this year) so it isn't a big hurry.
I don't know your situation, but if you need help doing your taxes, check with your church or united way for where to get free tax help for lower income people. Some of the companies that advertise tax service overcharge or don't do a good job of it.
If you just started work in August and didn't earn a lot, you may not owe anything else and may get a refund. If you do owe something, be sure to file on time even if you can't pay it all right away. You will owe some interest on what you don't pay by April 1, but if your tax return is filed late you will also be charged penalties.

You will be taxed by IRS and your state for those pay periods where no tax was withheld. You might start setting aside a few dollars each payday between now and the Tax deadline april 15 so you can pay those.

If you made less than $8450 last year, you don't owe anything and it doesn't matter. If your income was only a little bit higher than that, you'll owe very little.
Usually, your withholding kicks in right away. I'm guessing that your checks were too low to have anything taken out.
Just make sure your W-4 is in and correct. That's all you need.

If you can show your taxable income by your employment I can promise you it will end up costing you money when all is said and done. Your employer will probably end up in court or in the fight of his life with legal problems and you will still end up paying yourself. Even though he didn't take taxes out of your pay, if you have proof of your income, they will figure his taxes and the money will be deducted from your upcoming paychecks if you set it up that way. Otherwise they will try and garnish your paychecks until the money is paid off.

we dont know how much you made. prepare your taxes online, or have a professional do them, and they will figure out how much you owe, if anything.
