I designed and maintain www.BooBenefit.org. It contains information for a motorcycle rally that generates money for a children's burn camp. I pay for the hosting of the site and do all of the work associated with it. I spend many hours working on the site.

I know that I can consider the money I spent to pay for the hosting as a donation, but am I able to use any of the time that I worked on the site as a charitable donation? Can only direct monetary donations be deducted?

My brother was out of work for most of this year and the rest of the family supported him and his wife and two kids through the year. We each probably gave him around $10K. Is there any way to deduct this on my taxes? All the checks were written directly to him.

I have had no income this last year. Due to medical reasons. My family wants to claim me as a dependant and my new daughter born last year. I see no problem withthis as they have paid my bills taken me to Dr.s appointments and many other things. But, I owe child support, of 500. I am wondering if anyone in the family can claim me, and my daughter or is there certain criteria that has to be met before you can claim someone as a dependant?

I am currently married and my wife and I are going to separate within a few weeks (amicable agreement). We will be receiving a refund of $5800 and one argument we have now is "who gets what".

Of the income earned, I earned 87% of our total income and my wife earned 13% of our total income. She believes that because we are still married we should split our refund 50-50, and I believe it should be split based on percentage earned (i.e. I would get 87% and she would get 13%.

I am more than willing to pay 50-50 if it is in fact the law to split it 50-50, but I feel that is unfair given the circumstances.

Please site legal references if possible.

I work as a Co-op with IBM in RTP, NC... I'm a full-time student in Puerto Rico but I'm here doing co-op work... I just got paid $2084.44 before taxes and after taxes and medicare and stuff it came out to $1388.84...is this right? if it helps, I have no children, I'm single and I'm renting where I live... as I said I'm a student and I want the to recieve a return when I file taxes but I didn't know federal and state tax (plus medicare) would hurt so much... if this is wrong please let me know to get this fixed!
