It is common for the elderly to become dependants of their children as they enter their "golden years". It is also possible for someone to be considered a dependent in other situations. So I would say that there is no specific age as long as the criterion for dependency is met.

The number of "thumbs down" here is kind of surprising.

There isn't a limit for someone to be claimed as a dependent as a "qualifying relative", although there are a number of other requirements that must be met. There are age limits for a "qualifying child", who must be under 19, or under 24 and a full-time student.

To qualify as you "child" the person must be 18 or younger unless they are full time students in which case they can be between 19 and 24. Dependents other than your "children" can be any age but they must qualify under a number of other conditions.

It depends on the situation. If you are of good health and mental capacity, then you can be a dependant until you are twenty five because most kids up to 25 y/o are still in college and their parents are paying for it... still supporting them. If you have an adult in your home that does not work and it not of normal mental capacity (e.g. mentally retarded, etc), then there is no age in which they can stop being a dependant because you are constantly caring for them. If they are your parents and are handicapped and you care for them, then you can calim them as a dependant.

Basically, if more than half of your income goes towards supporting that family unit and/or person, then they can be considered a dependant.

Hope this helps.

regardless of in case you ask them to no longer declare you has no result on regardless of if or no longer they are legally allowed to declare you. regardless of if or no longer they do declare you has no result on regardless of while you're legally allowed to declare your self. regardless of if this is criminal for them to declare you, then this is against the regulation so which you will declare your self, regardless of in the event that they conform to no longer declare you. you're allowed to declare your self on condition that the regulation prohibits them from claiming you, no longer in case you or they make the alternative.
