My friend has been living with me for a year in my house and hasn't been able to find a job yet. He isn't related to me either. He is 21 years old and has no income. H&R block says I can list him as a dependent because he: an individual (other than your spouse) who was a member of your household all year will be considered a qualifying relative so long as the relationship does not violate local law, and has no income. Is this true? Do I get any tax credit for him or is it just a deduction. I made less than $20,000. Thanks.

I received $200 in hobby income (I created t-shirts using Cafepress.com and sold them), and I turned around and gave the $200 to charity. I take the standard deduction, so I won't be claiming the charity. But does the $200 income I received need to be reported on my 1040?
Thanks.
