Yes all income on a W-2 or 1099 needs to reported or the IRS will catch you later. You will not be a dependent on a joint return - you will get an exemption for you but not as a dependent. Go to www.irs.gov and pull up 1040 instructions.

You both must report ALL wages received.

A married couple filing a joint return must file and list all income if their combined income is more than $16,900 for 2006. If your combined income is less than that, you must file a return to receive a refund of any taxes withheld. You must also file a return if you qualify for the Earned Income Tax Credit and want to receive that money.

Find out everything that you need to know at the IRS website: http://www.irs.gov

Yes, you have to claim.

The filing limits are based on total income, not individual items.
