I need to know if you are sent a 1099 from your employer does the irs get a copy of the same 1099 or do you have to send the copy? Can you be located on using a 1099 form, ie if you don't want to be found is it wise to use a 1099? Once you get employed and your employer sends in the 1099 what information and who can find you based on the information from the 1099? How long does it take once it is filed to be located? (need to protect my small child from bad family member incase you are wondering)....
Thanks for all information....

Ok im 16 years old and i need some enlightenment on income tax. I worked over the summer and on my pay stubs it had social security and medicare deductions but no income tax deduction. It only says in the corner under "status fed/state" Don't withhold/exempt. So when tax time comes around do i need to send off 10% (the bracket for my gross earnings) of my earnings or what? and tax refunds? ahhhh, so confused please explain from square one.

Heres the situation.... my ex wife and i had an agreement in the divorce decree that stated we were to have split custody of our 2 kids, {1 week with me....1 week with her}..., and for tax purposes we would each be able to claim 1 on our taxes. In real life, this has not happened... the kids have lived with me {im a single dad} for all of the year...total time spent with her would not end up to be more then a couple weeks, tops. Im also sure i could prove this to be true in court as the kids are in school, daycare, etc. Can i legally claim them both as dependents since they lived with me?

We have a date set for a week after the new year but wondering if it's worth moving up. I'm a student and expecting. We're trying to save for a house. We could use the money and I'm wondering how much it would be, round about. He makes about 13000/yr.

i recently split with my boyfriend and am moving out of our house. he bought out my "half" and paid me in cash. unfortunately, my name was never on the title, so i've never been legally listed as co-owner of the house. i used the cash to put a down-payment on another house. in the financial papers for the mortgage company, the source of the money was listed as a "gift."

will i have to pay taxes on the cash "gift" ?

thanks in advance!

I started selling custom clothes and reselling clothes on eBay a few months ago. It's part time and my gross profits are under 2K. I'm married filing joint & I have heard from some people that I didn't make enough to report, while others say its mandatory. I heard the IRS is big on auditing e-businesses, but I don't even know if I'm considered a small business or not.

both my daughters live at home one is in high school the other is in college last year i claimed them both (since i provide all their care) for EIC. Heres the question........my oldest daughter had a baby, can i still claim my daughter on my income tax and for EIC? And can she claim the baby on her taxes(even though i use my daughter on mine) and still get EIC? I provide all the care for her (housing food etc.) she works and provides for the baby except for shelter.
