My friend bought a car from another friend for $500. But DMV is assessing taxes on it at its fair market value, which is $3500. Does DMV have a right to challenge the assessment and if so how do you respond to them?

My ex fiancee and I have 3 children together. While we were living together, I claimed 2, he in turn claimed the other child. Now that we are no longer together we both share the responsibilites of the children. We each split bills etc, and have the kids every other month. Is there any way when tax time rolls around that we can both claim all three? Or will we have to be stuck one of us claiming all or none etc.? Thanks!!!

I am trying to recoup costs of a car which I purchased last year. Basically it costs a decent amount of money (30,000) and I wish to attempt to sell tickets for a raffle which would allow the winner to then own the car and I would keep the raffle money. Im not sure if that is legal in the state of New Jersey, so I wanted to see if anyone knew if this was possible. Thanks for your help.

I am looking to purchase my own health insurance instead of going through my company. I know that the company takes out the cost on a pre-tax basis, but their insurance is not the greatest. If I do decided to sign up for health insurance, will I be able to use the cost of my own health insurance as a deduction fo tax purposes?

I have 3 children. I'm divorced. I pay the child care expenses for 2 of them. But their mother takes them as a deduction. My accountant tells me that because she takes the deduction I can't deduct the child care. I also pay her child support which I know is not tax deductable. Is there any way to get around this/Know anyone who can help me with this?
