Any tax attornies out there? I haven't filed taxes in five years. I think I owe about $25,000. Whats the best course of action? Can I negotiate it down? I had a nervous breakdown about 2 years ago and gave about $30,000 away to the homeless (the actual homeless, not documented homeless charities). Unfortunately that was the money I had planned to pay the IRS with. I'm trying to rebuild my life and I'm afraid to go to the IRS on my own. Any suggestions?

OK I just moved to the U.S. to be with my wife & daughter and I have NO idea what so ever about taxes etc..

I recently started a new job (my first in the U.S.) and my co-workers recommended I have3 Exemptions/Allowances.
I got my first paycheck today and the amount the taxed me doesn't look right....from $514.50, they only took out $17.03.

I'm married with 1 child, my wife does not work right now....how many exemptions/allowances should I have as I do not want to owe the govt. money at the end of the tax year??!!??

Thanks.

I could take the money with me when I fly to Pakistan, but a) it's a bit risky travelling with such a large amount of money. Secondly, if I were to take 30,000 GBP with me through the Airport here in Britain would I gest stopped? Or is there some law saying how much you can take out of the country when you fly? How can I find out the rules regarding this?

Discuss the following flaws:

The implementation of a national sales tax means retaxed already taxed dollars. So, if I have been investing my after tax dollars for the last 25 years, as soon as a national sales tax is incorporated I am going to have to pay tax all over again?

A prebate? This will only cause more people to be dependent on receiving money from the government. Yikes!

There are many other flaws, but these 2 seem the mos glaring. I know there are benefits, but don't tell me any of those benefits out weight the flaw of being taxed twice! Let's hear it pro fair tax people, how do you address the flaws?

There are some states that grant you additional tax discounts for raising livestock or crops on land. Does Tennessee have any additional tax benefits for farm land?

Once I got a check for 3600 with 2480 take home. Then I got a check for 2000 with 1600 take home.

Anyone know how the taxable rate of overtime is figured. I have overtime for 40.5 hours. I can break this up over two pay periods if I would get taxed less.

Any help appreciated!

Just say my parents have just bought 2 homes for residential use only.. they do-not want to rent theses homes out but live in them both (One is on one side of the state to the other but they travel between both places often) They found out just recently that they are going to get hit with capitol gain for having 2 places of residents.. Umm they really are struggling with having 2 homes but don't want to sell or get hit paying $150,000 a year capital gain.
Is it possible for them to "Gift" one of the homes to me and still live in it as I would not charge rent.. then when they want It sold I sell the property and then transfer the cash back to thier account.. Is this possible?? I have not much of an understanding with tax...
