We have to replace the furnace, air conditioner, hot water heater AND the siding! It's a HUGE chunk of money that we really do not have. Can we write all or part of this off our taxes?

Its the same gas. Every Province has a different price. And a lot more expensive then Are neighbors (USA) to the south have to pay. I think the prices are being fixed and there are a lot of antitrust laws being broken. But The Canadian Govenment won't step in because they get 100's of millions in Gas Tax.

Property Tax, School Tax, Alcohol Tax, Tabacco Tax, Gas Tax, Provicial Sales Tax, Goods and Sevices Tax, Tire Tax, Battery Tax, Enviro Tax, Income Tax, etc...... And if they don't call it a Tax it then becomes a fee, sur charge, licence, Fee, Fee, Fee. As a Canadian myself, I think it sucks donkey Dic_. I can't wait to some day break the chains of debt and leave this Country for good.

Like many I feel inheritance tax is PARTICULARLY unfair here in the UK as it is not a tax on your income or your liquid assets, so it can force you to lose items of sentimental value to comply with the law.

How long is a non profit group required to keep a receipt book? I am being told that we have to keep it for tax purposes, but all our funding is recorded in Quick books, receipts are written just for those who donate while we are at a function, and they do not include anything we get in the mail. I thought the receipts were to benefit the giver - not a tax record for the agency.

I noticed on my check that my employer witheld more taxes then they were supposed to. I then went back and checked all of my paychecks and they did this on all of them. I approached my payroll and they stated this would be refunded to me when I file my taxes next year. Is that true? Do I have to wait that long for their mistake?

I re-read the extension form and it says 6 months, so that would put the deadline at 10/15... but everyone I've talked to says no, it's 8/15. If you know the answer, please let me know. I've never filed an extension before so I'm just freaking out a little. :)
