Property Tax, School Tax, Alcohol Tax, Tabacco Tax, Gas Tax, Provicial Sales Tax, Goods and Sevices Tax, Tire Tax, Battery Tax, Enviro Tax, Income Tax, etc...... And if they don't call it a Tax it then becomes a fee, sur charge, licence, Fee, Fee, Fee. As a Canadian myself, I think it sucks donkey Dic_. I can't wait to some day break the chains of debt and leave this Country for good.

First, people in the U.S pay many of the taxes you mention above: cigarette, school, property, alcohol, gas, local, state, federal, general sales tax, car registration fee (based on value of car in some states), etc

But the amount you pay is probably more because you have more social services, healthcare services, etc. Those bills have to be paid and taxes and fees pay them. So it makes sense and it makes Canada much like most of Europe which has similar issues.

I don't want to hear it Canuck. LOL.

You dont think that we have this stuff here?

At least you have medical care.

Nevertheless, if they had 100 points you would give them to me for this resource - do not waste it. The stuff under paper trippiing is worth 1000's of dollars (not those Canadian ones - Real live greenbacks)

Anyway, the PT stuff is a little outdated, but once you start reading it you will not stop until 3:00 in the morning.

Hey, I agree it sucks. Don't really have an answer, just my view. The government could streamline a bit and make itself more cost effective. But also think about all the good things that this country has that others don't.

Yeah...it's basically because of your health care among other services. It does suck. But on the bright side, at least you aren't in switzerland. I think it's the Swiss anyway...one of those countries over in that area pays like 90% of their income in tax!!!! Of course, everything is pretty much taken care of for them, but that's still got to suck!

BTW- That's an awesome screen name...Van Halen fan??

Healthcare and education. Did you go to university in Canada? A 4 year degree costs less than 1 year at a US university thanks to those taxes. Ever gone to the doctor? You don't want to know what that costs in the US.

Socialized health care. It costs a lot to support that kind of network, but a lot of people here in the states wish we had it so that everyone could be taken care of.
