The Social Security Administration sends out quarterly (I think) reports that show the benefit amount you can expect to receive if you retire or become disabled today or when you retired, etc. based on your contributions through your working life. Needless to say, mine says I need to keep working...
If you're not getting your report, contact the SSA and make sure they have your correct address. It's the only way to know for sure that your contributions are being received and how much you're likely to get. Someone who hasn't work much can't expect much, but if married she's entitled to her husband's benefits when/if he dies, and of course shares in it while they're together.

Depending on how much/how little she worked, she probably won't qualify for SSA (a.k.a. Social Security). She would need 40 quarters to qualify. To check details in her case, go to https://s044a90.ssa.gov/apps6z/isss/main.html and the Social Security Administration will send a statement.
There's a chance that she might qualify for SSI, which is need-based.

If married, you are entitled to a portion of your husband's benefits. If he dies, you get his full amount.

. . . given the pursuit of democracy, liberty and equality surely an appropriate amount would be zero, none, zilch, nada - pay nothing in and get the same back out . . .
