Also the job is union, how much will they take out for that?

Depends on the state. Go to www.irs.gov and look at Circular E to get your federal withholding tax tables. The combined FICA taxes are 7.65% from gross earnings. State taxes come from your state's website. Union dues - talk to your union rep.

Are you still a student? Are you saving for university? If so, then you probably won't pay any taxes. If you're not a student then 1/4 of the gross for everything would be a good rule of thumb. I've never seen union dues any higher than $50/mth.

As a rule of thumb,if you work five days and 40 hrs per week,the fifth day is the day you work for Uncle Sam.
