you might try getting info at your local public library.

here are 2 sites where you can get more info - i would definitely suggest researching all your options and all the requirements before filing. there are also some places where you can get some free legal advice.

don't forget that once your bankruptcy is discharged (finalized), it will show up on your credit for up to 10 yrs, and you must disclose it on credit applications if asked.

I know someone who tried to file on her own. The judge pointed out several errors in her filing that, if left, would have resulted in her losing her home. He sent her away to get an attorney, she came back much better prepared and ended up with as good a deal as you get in the circumstances.

Please do not do this on your own. At least speak with an attorney to find out what is involved.

The suggestion of credit counselling is also an excellent idea.

Before going to any extremes, you may want to try talking to a reputable credit counseling service. They may be able to help you work out some kind of installment plan to pay back your debts without destroying your credit rating.

DONT BE CRAZY - hire an attorney - make sure you go to www.annualcreditreport.com and pull all 3 bureaus to make sure everything is in your bankruptcy
