how much would you pay for this service? we would bring the lighting to the customer's home and install it any way the customer wanted. the customer would do nothing but pay a fee and sit in their comfy chairs and watch while their home is transformed into a x-mas light extravaganza. possible business idea? any opinion welcome.

I am a single mother of two, and I am interested in opening a small business for infants and children's items. What is the process to do this, and about how much does it cost excluding my inventory? I already know how much that will be. Do I need a business license? And how do I get a tax ID certificate for the business? I really want to do this and any help would be greatly appreciated!

which sounds like more of a competitive market to you. ( a competitive market in one with many buyers and sellers trading identical products)

A. Car insurance is mandatory. (All drivers must carry insurance.) Four insurance companies provide all the insurance needed and agree to divide the high-risk drivers evenly among themselves.

B. There are many Italian restaurant owners in town. They order pasta from many different firms. It does not matter to them what brand the pasta is, as long as the deliveries are on time.

I am a private & group music teacher and have to handle taxes, filing, administrative, scheduling, public-relations, financial (invoicing & gift certificates), etc.
I have 30 clients & hope to soon have 1 or 2 employees.
This question is for any type of small business, at home or in an office setting - as long as you are working for yourself (and maybe have some people working for you). Other topics in the small business & home business world apply to this question as well.
I am interested in filing help, administrative help, invoice help, tax help, office-space help, anything! : )
I have been in business for 5 years, but know I can always improve... others will find your help helpful too!

Thank you!

I've been assigned the challenge of proposing a formal mentoring program - and a considerable challenge it is:
1. The number of employees who want mentoringrelationships far exceeds the number of managers and
executives willing and able to be mentoring; how will I select the people for the program
2. The people most in demand for mentoring also tend to be some of the busiest people in the organization.
3. After several years of belt tightening and staff reductions, the entire company feels overworked; few people can imagine adding another recurring task to their seemingly endless to-do lists.
4. What's in it for the mentors? Why would they be motivated to help lower-level employees?
5. How will I measure success or failure of the mentoring effort?

Task: Identify potential solutions to the issues (make up any information as needed), then draft a proposal to the executive committee for a formal, company-wide mentoring program that would match employees with manager and executives

does anyone else fear the competition?

my biggest fear is that i'm going to strike out on my own business-wise, i'm going to do excellent, and then someone is going to observe what i'm doing, how i do it (i.e., advertise, etc.), and they're going to take off and copy it and make a venture of their own doing the same thing i'm doing

i am so afraid of that. so how do you deal with the competition and when someone else decides to come out to do the same thing YOU are doing or even if they copy your idea and wind up doing even better than you do?

what do you do to ward off competition or stay on top of your game/business when competition starts competing with you and/or trying to outdo you or even worse, steal your ideas and make it their own?
