What steps do I need to take before listing items on ebay? I plan to sell extra items I have, CDs, DVDs, sports memorabilia, collectables, etc. I am not looking to make a ton of money, and I will only do this in my spare time. I know how to list, how to leave feedback, how to offer payment options. But I want to take the correct steps BEFORE the auctions (packing supplies, shipping options, post office trips) so I can stay organized and on top of the transactions. What is the best way to do this?

Things like being able to do simple calculations in your head, estimate, and, if necessary calculate more complex things like markup or verify what QuickBooks says.

I am a small business owner and my partners seem to think the best way to pay ourselves is a payroll check. However, we are paying double taxes (personal and business payroll taxes).

I contend there is an easier way to pay our salary, ie Draw or some sort of way.

This business has annual sales of 500,000 per year and has a 60% profit margin. We employ 3 people.

I am a new small business owner (LLC) currently working out of my basement, and am interested in purchasing some office space (yes, do not want to through money on rent). Is the purchase cost tax differed until I sell the asset (may be in 10 years from now?) Or do I have to use after tax dollars to buy the office space?

I have a two month old. I would love to work but I don't want anyone else watching her. I want to be the one with her all the time. Are there any good ideas for a home based business that don't require school or a lot of training? Any moms or dads that work from home.

Having signed the forms to sell Scottish Power shares due to the proposed takeover. I see that the price is now a lot higher than the stated price on the sale. My question is; can I still sell the shares on the open market before the takeover goes through, allegedly in May.

I have a non-compete agreement with my former employer that does not end for til the end of the year. I would like to open my own business and compete against him. I am not trying to solicit his clients but I will likely solicit unknowingly former or current clients at some point and be competing at regional trade shows. Being that I want to honor my promise, when does competition legally start? The day I incorporate? The day I publish my website? Or would it be the day I begin soliciting clients or land one? There is so much work to do and I don't want to put myself out there by filing by Inc. papers or registering a domain name. My former boss will probably be looking for a reason to come after me. I am in Texas if that makes a difference.

I am having about 15 pine trees removed (beatles are slowly destroying the pines) to allow for the growth of maples. A logger is clearing some property next door and will offer money or "clean up" in exchange for the trees.

I have no idea what they are worth. Almost all are tall, maybe eight are very tall. I know my description of size is vague, but what do loggers typically pay for pines in North Carolina?
