My husband is purchasing a 2nd home and using our first home equity line to generate the fund for this 2nd home purchase. I've been having my own credit card debts (total close to 40k) that he does not know.

The loan agent said that may use my name for the loan cuz they think that my credit score will be better than my husband's. I'm so freaking out now cuz I know my credit score is not great at all and I'm so so so nervous that my husband will know my total credit card debts.

Should I call the loan agent not to disclose my debts to my husband or he will automatically know that its my own info and will now tell my husband know (the loan agent will run my credit check and will see all my debts).

This 2nd home I will not have my name on it but my husband thinks it does not matter and my credit should be used if it helps get a loan.

What should I do now? Should I CALL the loan agent and inform him this or I just keep praying that my husband will not know? Pls advise. Thanks

We are going to refinance our mortgage due to a variable rate issue in August. However, we are un-sure wether to go with a fixed rate or a 5 year ARM at a little over a .5 % less. We do not plan on starying in the house more then 3-5 years so we are considering the ARM. Is that a safe bet? We are in desperate need to reduce our monthly bills and a lower APR would help a lot. We just don't want to get into a bad situation with an ARM. Pros Vs. Cons? We currently Owe $133,000 and the house appraised right around $200,000.

I am conducting some market research. I would like to know if a floor plan layout would help sell a house. If you have looked through estate agent websites before, did you see any with floor plan layouts, were they useful? A simple 'Yes' or 'No' will do, but would be great if you could give a little more feedback! Thanks!

My wife and myself recently had a small apartment fire. The fire itself caused very little damage, some scorch marks on the ceiling that come right off. The sprinkler system and the firemen, on the other hand, caused quite a bit of damage: they tore a huge swath of carpeting up to help pool the water, sawed part of our sliding door frame out to make an outlet for the water off the balcony, knocked our toilet out to make a drain. a great deal of our things are ruined.

we dont have renters insurance, but we can eat the damages to our personal property. however, our landlord is telling us that they dont have any insurance either, and that were responsible for all damages done by the fire, the firemen, the sprinkler system, and other misc charges, such as the alarm system guy and elevator technician coming out.

im trying to get in touch with a tenant's union here in seattle, but since theyre volunteer run organizations theyre slow to respond. does the landlord's story sound strange

Rather than ask our parents for help, we're thinking of biting the bullet and pay our mortgage late. Besides the obvious late charge, what's going to happen? How badly damaged was your credit? What was your experience? What did you do?

I signed a year's lease and have fulfilled 4 months thus far of the lease. When we moved in, my son was doing pretty well, but due to a lot of noise and people loitering outside of our apartment his problems have continued to deteriorate. We have had the police out twice and the security guard out numerous times and I have that all documented. My son's doctor wrote a long note explaining to my apartment that if my son continues to live there his situation will deteriorate. Does anyone know if we can get out of our lease based on this situation? Please only answer if you have some experience in this situation and don't just give your opinion. We are in a desperate situation and need some answers now. Thanks much.

Ive just realised theres a huge scam right under my nose. My £100,000 house costs me say 6% each year to pay back say if this is the base rate. Now if inflation is say, 2%, Im paying 4% over the odds. Who gets the profit. Is the bank of England actually owned by the government so effectively get the high interest payment? or where do all our interest payments really go?
Ive also wondered why other commercial institutions dont undercut the base rate becase when it goes high because companies could actually still make profit lending at a lower rate?
Its now dawned on me that people who buy houses out right can make a profit, but those with a mortgage are 'forced' with a base rate that is now twice the rate of infation. SO WHERE ARE ALL THESE INTEREST PAYMENTS GOING??? Is the government raking in all the interest?
Ive never thought of this point before but Im begining to realise someone must be getting rich while Im getting poor with my £1000 a month interest payments!

In our research about foreclosure property and the opportunities that may exist to get another home at a good or discounted price, we read lots of material that touts the advantages. Just for once, would someone give us an honest, balanced, list of possible disadvantages or "cons" we need to bear in mind?

The lender can't charge me for the time they took to get me aproved for a loan, but feels they can charge me for UPS overnight fees, credit report, and some underwriting fees. I swtiched lenders because the one I had could not do the job in a timely manner that we needed before closing. Thanks for your help.

We have an investment home--long story short--we need to get rid of it. It's becoming a headache. We got in touch with a motexinvestments who have made us an offer. They will take over both mortgages and we pay them $4500. We are done with the house. Is this legit? Because of the condition of the house and location, we anticipated losing about $10,000 had we tried to sell it ourselves.

Partner and I are really new to this, but we have been along to watch a couple of auctions after doing some self education online.
How did some of the bidders calculate what the property in question was worth to them? They obviously had maximum amounts they would not go beyond. How was the reserve set? And what is an upset price?- we couldn't find that definition in the glossaries we looked at.

Have been looking at online ebooks to get educated about buying at foreclosure auctions, but struggle with some of the State law differences. I live in Colorado. Can some one tell me in plain english the basic difference judicial vs non judicial, what the redemption period means to the winning bidder, and does the original owner get a chance to redeem his property? Although I can't see how he could under the circumstances.

My husband received a notice to appear in court about an apartment he moved out of in 2002. He didn't give 30 days notice so they kept his deposit, but his lease was up 2 years prior and he was paying month to month. This is the first contact we have received from the propery management group and the charges they want him to pay are ridiculous. They are asking for fees to remove bulk items that he didn't own (end tables, a head board, a computer, a tv, a lamp, $25 per item) and he left the apartment completely empty. We don't disagree that he should have given 30 days notice so we understand the additional months rent, but cleaning fees of $225 and item removal of $150 are a bit ridiculous. We don't feel we owe the removal fees. Is there a way to fight this even though neither side can prove or disprove these items were left in the apartment at this point? We feel like we're at the mercy of the property management company and have to pay the full amount. Any advice is great!!

I rent from my parents at a reduced rate and whenever anything goes wrong (EG taps sieze up) she throws the fact that im on a reduced rent back in my face and says she will put the rent up. The tile grout in the bath went last yr and she asked me for half the repair charge. I dont have a copy of my tenancy but i dont believe it was detailed to include anything like that. I dont expect I have a leg to stand on do I?

I'm a first time buyer buying a condo that sold for 79,900 with 4900 in seller concessions to cover closing costs with the remainder going to directly to me as cash back. After the appraisal, the mortgage company is trying to say that the condo is in a "declining market" so I have to now put 5% down because they won't give me 100% financing for "declining market" property. I've never heard of anything like this. Is this standard practice or should I I find another mortgage company?

This is a question for my mom who is in Europe right now. She is a retired Missouri Probation & Parole officer, her previous landlord is trying to keep her deposit. She lived in this house for three years and got along great with them. Everything was fine until she moved out in Apr. 2007. Her first lease was from May 15 2004 to May 14 2005, she entered into that contract on Apr. 28 2004. The second lease was from May 1 2005 to Apr. 30 2006 entered into on Apr. 28 2005. Now all was good until she wants to renew for a third year and come Apr. of 2006 she asks them for months where's the lease I need to sign. She asks this Aug. 2006 when they finally give it to her. The third year lease entered into on Aug. 4 2006 is from June 1 2006 to May 31 2006. That is what screws her up. She trusted that they would make it the same dates as before and not looking at it, she signs it. They are saying now that she moved out one month early by moving out the end of Apr. Does she have a case?
