I need to find out who owns a piece of property and the tax value, someone told me there was a website that you could go to and find this info. I live in North Carolina.

Some counties have this information on line. Most don't. Go to the counties web site, look for the tax office and see if there is anything there. If not, you'll have to call.

You may or may not be able to procure that information online. Generally each county in a state maintains its own website for 'land records'. A quick check of the NC state website indicates that NC does not maintain a statewide database of land records, so you are down to searching in the county where the land is located, if you know in which county it is located.

NC has 100 counties, some of which have land records online and others not.

All real estate record like that are kept by the county government. Beyond that, it depends on what that specific county decides to put on its web site. A trip to the county building always works. Online, you may need the index number, which is on the official maps which are in the county building.

You should contact the property appraisers office in your area or go to their website. List the property address and all the information regarding that property will come up ie: owner, price paid for said property, size etc.
