There is a father with two daughters I'll call "A" and "B". In Oct. 2005, B and her significant other were trying to purchase a home in the same subdivision as A; in fact it was behind A's house, just up a steep hill. The said home's land ran down over the hill to a small level slip that is adjacent to A's property. B and her sig other had some credit issues, werent' able to secure a loan and the father purchased the home and told them in 1-2 years when you get more stable, I'll sell the home to you at the same price I bought it for. He got the home for around $15-20K less than its appraised value-it was a repo. Later than fall, A's hubby began clearing off the land that was adjacent to their yard and one day Dad was at A's house and told her and hubby before he sold house to B he was going to deed that bit of land to A and hubby because it wasn't of any use to B and s/o since it was at the bottom of a very steep hill they'd have to navigate to get to it...

I have lived in the same home for 3+ years. I owe some back rent and I sent the landlord a letter stating that I would pay the current rent and when I got my income tax refund I would pay the back rent in full. She sent me a letter back stating that she agreed with that. So one month ago I called her to tell her that the furnace quit working (this was on Jan 18, happened to be the coldest night so far this winter, it was only 9 degrees outside.) She never returned my call and a couple days later I got a certified letter from her stating that if the back rent wasn't paid in full by February 1st I was to be out. The 1st came and went and I still didn't have my refund. She did not bother to contact me for the rent money, serve me with a court ordered eviction, or fix my furnace. It has been one month since my furnace broke (note: I also have 2 children.)

I am moving from MS to CA. I will need cash to pay for the move of my household goods and initial set up of my new home. I expect to make about $68,000 on the sale of my previous home but, will not have cash in hand until well after I close on the new home.

I'm looking for a dormitory/studio type of space. Just enough for a single person. Like 1 bedroom, small kitchen and a separate bathroom. Living room is optional.

I am in the process of buying a home from a family friend. He has agreed to sell on a land contract, but after talking to a lawyer.. I'd rather sign a promissory note and a trust for deed. How can I let them know that it's better for them and me?

We moved from a one bedroom to a two bedroom under the same landlord. She never had us sign a lease for the new apartment because she knew us. In the one bedroom, it was hard to get her to fix a broken sink handle (it was never fixed until we moved out and we were blamed for not telling her even though we did. She even promised for two weeks that her handyman would come out.) and now I have a drip in my kitchen ceiling. My complex looks like it should be [bulldozed over or] remodeled but she won't pay for the half she had fixed so my building won't be fixed.
Is any of this legal?
(By the way I don't have the money to move to another building. My rent is $625 while my family makes a little over $800. Government housing waiting lists are a 3+yr wait)

My husband and I work very hard, saved a nice bit of money down for a home and now we get the run around, and each and every time we get asked the same question. Are you hispanic or latino? No we are not, we have a family that lives next door to us that has 21 people in a 4 bedroom home. that is insane, but they got their loan with no problem. We have good credit and pay all our bills on time, send 2 kids thru school and mind our own. Let me also point out that I live in AZ. When I first moved here I went to the DMV, I am a pale redhead with green eyes and they wanted me to prove that I was born here, I told the lady behind the desk that I was the whitest most english speaking person in here and you want me to prove that I was born here? I was pushed thru with no more questions. When we went for our home loan we were asked if we are any part hispanic or latino, when we said no, the gal told us "thats too bad, we have a ton of programs for hispanic and latino familys " I was floored.

How practical is it? Is there anyone out there who owns a home and works at Home Depot as a "regular worker", not management?

Looking to purchase a condo in Maryland (PG County) I work at Home Depot, about 30k/yr. I feel discouraged about this. It seems that I'll never be able to afford a home. I haven't spoken with any lenders yet though - so I'm not sure what dollar amount I'd qualify for.

I am considering buying an empty lot of land that is zoned for residential use. Let's say that the lot is worth $15k. Do I need to save up $15k of my own money to purchase the land? Or can I get financing to pay for it, from a bank, similar to if I were purchasing a condo or house? And if so, are the interest rates for a loan on a plot of land the same as the rates for a condo/house? With similar terms (ie - 15 year, 30 year loans, etc.). Or would things be different since the loan would be much smaller than a loan you would get for a condo/house?

I am buying a house and the laywer got the title and then did a search on it and she said there was somthing "on" it and it had to be cleared up before we can close but i didn't find out what it was. She also said that it wasn't because of this seller but whoever owned the house before him. He bought the house for cheap and flipped it. What could be on the title and how long could it take to clean up.
