I am in the process of purchasing a condo. The purchase price is $210K and the bank's appraisal came in at $215K. Is this bad that the appraisal value is only $5k more? I guess I am wondering if it is wise to purchase something that's appraisal value is not much more than the purchase price?

My ex and I were sharing a storage unit but the lease was in my name and we were both paying on the rent. Now I have removed my things from the unit but his stuff is still there. When i asked how to transfer the lease to him i was told that i would have to sign a paper saying i was abandoning the unit and then he would have to sign a new lease. What does it mean or what happens when one signs a contract saying they've abandon the unit? Any advice on this subject is greatly appreciated. Thank you

We would like to find out about making an offer to our landlord who we currently privately rent a property from. What should we do? What sort of discount would we be entitled to?

We have a water lein placed on the house fm our town tax dept. We are paying off the house, not changing mortgage companies but the house will be paid in full. Will the lein affect that in any way? Will the mortgage holder release the deed?

I work late and get up late. Two apartments now and I find that when my neighbors get up and take showers, it's loud enough in my apartment that it wakes me up.

What causes this problem and how are buildings engineered to not have it? How can I find an apartment that won't have noisy plumbing?

My boyfriend and I are trying to rent a townhouse. He has excellant credit and mine is fair. The landlord has ran the credit report but would like to check further into mine because of a credit card with "derogatory" comments. (this debt was already paid off). Would you (if you were him) still rent to us?

I own 1/3 of a vineyard in napa valley. No home is on the land. My mother and sister own the other 2/3. I discover it listed for sale by accident one day on the internet. I am against the sale of this land and was never asked about selling it for it to be listed. I instantly e mailed the agent who had it listed telling her who I was and to take it off the listing NOW!!! She soon found out what I said was true. My question here is. When you contact a agent to sell your property isnt there some kind of a contract that has to be signed by all owners of the property to do so? I think My sister and Mother might of forged my signature. The property is in the process of being sold to a buyer now. I have been contacted by the title/escrow company, but I have refused to sign anything untill I get some answers.

What is the procedure, cost and timeline? 2 of 3 owners refuse to sell on the open market, and refuse to buy the third person out at fair market value, as per the Will that left them the property over 3 years ago. This has been going on for over 2 years!

I would like to know typically what should be included in carpet area especially space occupied for balcony, service area adjoining dining or kitchen, lift (if it is in the center of the building). Should these areas be included in carpet area or plinth area since they actually come outside the plinth area. But we end up paying for the same. Should we pay one uniform rate for carpet area and other than carpet area which comes under super built up area? Also, is there any standard ratio of super built up area over carpet area?

Both of my parents grew up there and my mothers childhood house was just torn down my fathers was torn down a long time ago (it was even one of the very first tear downs they put a church parking lot there). His parents bought a nicer/ bigger house in the town. Any ways my question is why does Hinsdale allow for all those tear downs? Imean all the other surrounding towns dont allow it as much. My parents say they would never move back because its not the same. The are considering moving to a near by town.
