Im confused I talk to people some say to settle others say to pay in full. Is their a defferance? I know that paying in full is obviously the best way to go, but I wouldnt mind saving some money if settling is going to have the same effect on my credit report. I own a home, lease a car, an have one credit card which are all in good standings. Is settling for less going to have the same effect as paying in full? Since I have been in collections for about 2 years. these collection companys have been reporting badly on my credit report for 2 years, even if I pay in full is it true that it will still be on my credit report for several years? Why not settle for less an save the cash. Right??

I'm 21 and I just started saving. Aside from the basic things I need I next to never spend. I try to save at least $1000 a month. i currently have all my savings in a savings account where I'm getting some pretty good interest but the thing that is on my mind is taxes. So far the only thing I've heard of that can help me is an IRA and a Roth IRA. I heard that I don't have to pay taxes on the money I put in or I have to pay taxes on the money but not the interest. Are there any other plans that have similar qualities to this? I plan on going to grad school in the future so preferably plans where if you start school you can take the money out without penalty. My job does not offer any 401Ks

my husband and I had to use cashland money borrowing at one time and since the fees are always $50-$100 each time you borrow we cant catch up and have to keep borrowing every few weeks. How can we catch up and pay them off for good and never use them again? Any suggestions?

I have a friend who is planning on refinancing her mortgage and all of her debt thru this company. I am skeptical that all of her debt can be erased in that short amount of time. I need more information on this company so that she can make a better decision.

I have a $3,000 bonus and $9,000 in proceeds from a stock purchase plan. What should I do with this $12,000?

I have a $30,000 student loan at 5% $206 a month
$14,000 car loan at $290 a month / 9% interest.
I also have a $14,000 balance on my home equity line of credit at 15.4%.

I know that's a really high interest rate, but I am a bit conflicted if I should pay off my car loan to free up that extra $300 a month to pay down the HELOC faster or if I should focus on the HELOC and keep the $300 a month payment going?

He needed the money to pay a hotel stay after the airline lost his luggage. I lended him $300 cash depositing in his checking account. It's been 3 weeks since the date proposed by him to pay back and doesn't keep me posted of what's happening or reply my calls. Now I really need that money, I'm really squeezing my dimes to pay some bills and keep up with everyday expenses. Really feel stupid thinking that there's honest people and thinking about beign a "good" person.

Is there a way to get it back through his bank? is there a way at all. How can I report this to get my money back.

I work for a company that gets paid bi-weekly (Every other Friday) I started last Monday and they had just got paid the Friday before, so this past Friday wasn't a payday but this coming Friday will be. I'm not in the computer system yet though so I'm wondering if I'll get paid this Friday or if I'll have to wait another two weeks?

-Also, when you're paid bi-weekly are you paid for 1 or 2 weeks at a time?-
