Remember the investing basics: the higher the return the higher the risk. You mention bonds, you can get corporate junk bonds that yield over 20%. Vanguard's U.S. Treasuries bond fund yields 4.03%. You can guess which is the riskier investment. Always invest within you risk comfort zone. It is your money.

There is no limit on how much money you can lose with your investments either.
