Most government grants are not to individuals. Grants have specific requirements and reporting requirements. Unless you fall into some special group, like a member of a particular Indian nation, it's highly unlikely you would qualify for a grant to buy a house or land.

and why would they do such a thing???

i did get gov funding for my home and its only a 1% apr. look in the blue pages or search for usda building in your area.
