My credit card company sent me a letter today saying that my credit limit had been increased to £11k and that I was pre-approved for an unsecured loan of up to £25k. I don't earn huge sums of money, more or less the national average, and if I borrowed on both these I would be in severe financial dire straights. However, I am sure there will be people out there who do max out there cards and get huge loans and end up in all kinds of trouble because of it.

Should there be a limit on how much credit and individual can borrow. Perhaps related pay. For example, no more than 10% of there annual income? Maybe this could be increased with age as people become less prone to impulse buying.

PS Putting mortgages aside as they are a seperate issue

I just inherited a small amount of money, and want to set aside $1000 for each of my grandchildren. It must be done in some manner that their parents CAN NOT access the money, and the children can't touch it until they are 18 if they go on to higher education or 21 if they don't go to college or tech school. A ROTH IRA is out because they MUST go to college to get the money with that one. Naturally I want the money to have as high a return on the investment as possible, but I don't want the kids to have to pay a bunch of tax when they cash it out. Someone suggested savings bonds, but those are something that can't be restricted from being accessed by their parents or before the desired age. Suggestions???? What have YOU done?

Trying to find out which is better, going to a consolidator to take control of my outrageous debt... or not pay some debts each month to slowly pay off others. I have 7 cc's right now and if I pay 2 of them in the next two months and not pay 5 of them in those two months, I can pay off both balances. Then after that, I can concentrate on paying down each card one at a time... Would this make more sense instead of a debt consolidation?

Looking for some people who've experienced both... help.

The house is in his name, they just got it in March 07, the car loan & title is in his name, the truck title is in his name but the truck loan is in her name. He owes 15 thousand on the car and more on the truck but wants to keep the truck, she don't want either and won't help on payments after this month.

How does he go about getting rid of the car? Sell it privately if he can within the month? What other options does he have?

I just don't know what to tell him. He financed 100K for the house and did enough work to add a good 20K to the selling price, should he sell the house to get out of debt or what?

Any advice will be greatly appreciated, please help. He is 22 years old and makes good money but just not enough.

Any suggestions on what I can do to achieve this? I am not looking for any "get rich quick" schemes. Somthing legit please. Does anyone know any good websites that let you work from home to earn money--that does not require a start up fee?

Is there really a federal limit on the number of online payments you can make on your credit card in one billing month? My credit card co. says there is, but I can't find a reference to this law online.

I have a credit card with a balance that includes a balance transfer from a previous account that has 0.0% APR for a while and the rest of the balance on the card is from purchases that has a high percent APR. All my payments that I make go toward the balance transfer which has 0% APR and the interest from my purchases keeps building up and doesn't go down. How can I transfer JUST the purchase balence that I have on that credit card. This is kind of a confusing situation, let me know if you have any clarity questions.

I am a teacher; therefore, I am usually off for the summer. However, this summer I worked out of town for three weeks and I have quite a few home improvement projects I need to get into (just purchased 1st home three months ago). The pay at this job is awful, $6.50. However, it is where I buy ALL of my clothes from. The discount is 40% off of everything. I don't even care about the discount anymore. I just want to enjoy my summer and paint/decorate my house. The problem is the manager is sooooo nice! I feel so bad about wanting to quit and don't even know how to go about doing it. Should I quit? If so, how can I do it? Thanks

I checked my balance online yesterday and noticed many charges on my account (pending) that made no sense...since I "mislaid" my card last Wednesday. Doh! I thought the card was in the pants I wore last Weds, and didnt find them until Saturday (kids had worked on laundry).

Anyways, to make a long story short - I am out 600.00. Have called and reported this- got a new ATM card and pin # on the way. I also called the Sheriff's department today.

Anyone know what will happen? I have a rent check due and now not enough funds to cover it.
