I checked my balance online yesterday and noticed many charges on my account (pending) that made no sense...since I "mislaid" my card last Wednesday. Doh! I thought the card was in the pants I wore last Weds, and didnt find them until Saturday (kids had worked on laundry).

Anyways, to make a long story short - I am out 600.00. Have called and reported this- got a new ATM card and pin # on the way. I also called the Sheriff's department today.

Anyone know what will happen? I have a rent check due and now not enough funds to cover it.

Go to you bank and file a reg e claim.
You'll have to sign an affidavit and they'll notarize it at the bank. Basically, it'll say that you're being honest about the stolen card.
I would go monday morning to the bank and tell them as well. It's a good thing that you contacted the bank and got a new atm card etc... the longer you delay the harder it'll be to get the funds.

As long as the person used the card as a visa and didn't have your pin number, you should be okay.

good luck and go to the bank asap.

Since this problem is so prevalent these days, most if not all banks will replace the money. Like Wachovia for instance, claims if your card is lost or stolen and used, they will return the money to your account the very next day. Call your bank and find out what their policy on this is.

Tell me you didn't write the PIN on the card! But how else could it have been used?
