Thanks SV - When I was trying to log in there was the normal log in screen and it kept rejecting me!! - Hmm I hope it is planned and not some catastrophic failure

If someone had hijacked your a account, you could access the site as normal, but when you entered your password, you would receive an notice that the user-name/password were not valid. If the website is down, you would either not be able to access the log-in screen, or receive a message that the site was unavailable. The site does not have regular downtime. If the site was down for scheduled maintenance, they probably had a notice on the site for about a week in advance.

As of 9:37pm Eastern Time (US), July 8, 2007, the site is unavailable.

It is down at the moment (01:56 BST). Clicking the Log In link from their homepage (http://www.natwest.com/) gives a message confirming the system is down. So it's not just your account or your PC.

But I can't see anything on the site to say whether it's planned or not (not sure why, but my gut feeling is that it's unplanned).
