PayPal pays a good rate but requires you to be 18. Local banks will open accounts for minors but won't pay more than 1% interest. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have been saving tons of money in the past couple of months but now whenever I'm out I think, "Oh, I have a lot of money saved I can afford this and that" And then I end up spending more then I should have. How do I keep motivated to continue saving and not spend it?

Hi,

I'd like to transfer money from my Barclaycard to an external current account. Preferably online. Does anyone know if this is possible? If so, how?!?

Thanks

My boss asked me to write a thank you letter to a banker. He's trying to get a larger line of credit, and the bank he's dealing with came to the office & met with him in regards to this. Please help me to thank the banker for coming to the office. Thanks

A friend of mine wrote me a check a while back for $300. It was my share of our security deposit from our apartment. They had sent her the full amount instead of dispersing it.

Anyway, she asked that I wait to cash it for a few days. I waited a couple of weeks. She then emailed to say that she was closing her account, and asked if I had cashed it yet. I replied that I had not, and asked her what she wanted me to do (i.e. cash the check, or wait for a new one). She never replied...and I basically forgot about it. I recently remembered that I had never heard back from her, so I emailed her to ask for my money. She replied that it was too late and that she didn't owe me anything after all this time.

My question is, how can I get my money? It's been 6 months since the check was originally written, and around 5 since the account was closed. Can I cash it, or do I have to try and convince her to write me another one?

*sorry for the length, it's sort of a drawn out story

I mean not really expensive, but around 30 to 40 thousand. My dad makes a good bit of money.. around 100,000 a year. He bought a mustang for about 27,000 and said it was expensive and that anything more expensive is out of our budget or something like that.

Yet, I have a friend who works at best buy as just a sales person who bought a subaru wrx sti brand new. Which I believe is around 35,000 dollars.

How can he afford something like that and my dad didn't want to spend more than 30,000 cuz it's too expensive?

Is virtually all of my friends money going to go towards the car?

I guess I'm just wondering what is a good percentage of income to go towards your car so that you can still be living comfortably?

Here's the situation:

I'm a 35 yo single mom with a Master's degree. I don't get child support, have no idea where he is and going through the state takes no less than 8 months to even get the process started. I don't qualify for unemployment because I didn't work enough last year. I don't qualify for welfare because I own my house BUT can't sell right now with the current market I'd have to come up with a lot of out-of-pocket to sell - I don't have it.

I was out of work last yr from Apr-Oct. We lived off my savings then. I landed a short-term contract in Oct which ended in Jan. I've been job-hunting but nothing certain yet. I'm not "in the red" YET but it's getting to that point.

I'm currently UNEMPLOYED w/ no health insurance, no income, no real prospects and no where to turn YET I have this money in an IRA - can't worry abt retiring when I may be homeless. Is there ANY way - special programs or anything that I can access my money and even defer paying it back once I do get a job.

I find that every paycheck I earn I am spending. I have money in the bank it's just that I have a credit card and I have like a $400.00 bill to pay on it. I have enough in the bank to cover it and I'm not sure if I should just pay the whole thing in full or pay the $100.00 statement I have now. I think it all evens out in the end if I pay it now or later it's the same amount of money right? After I pay it off I then want to be able to put my paychecks in the bank. Maybe not all of them but at least half of each one. It's just that I go shopping and I find myself buying something all the time. I work in an office 3 days a week and go to college l so I feel I need 2x as much of a wardrobe because I need clothes for both settings. I always feel like I need more clothes cause I don't want to wear the same things all the time. How can I figure out a decent budget for myself is there a website I can go on that will help me?

I'm an American citizen and I've just started making loads of money. My fellow expatriate friend suggested that I open up an offshore bank account in Jersey, which I have done. I still don't fully understand the point of an offshore bank account-- is it so that the US goverment can't see how much money I'm making now? I needed a bank account anyway, that's why I opened it, but I'm still not fully aware of what the benifits are!

If you happen to check your account sometime today and found that the bank deposited 2.5 million in your account by mistake... Would you call the bank and let them know about this mishap or would you withdrawn all the cash you could get out until the bank found out that there was a mistake made?
