I responded to an ad on tv where they would "send you payment by return mail" for sending in pieces of scrap gold that you may have around the house. They sent me the pre-paid envelope and I sent them a few pieces of broken jewelry and have not heard from them since. Have any of you had similar experiences? I guess I will have to chalk it up to "live and learn."

Ok my partner and his dad owned a house together and his dad sadly passed away 6 months ago. His life insurance is paying off the old mortgage. Well me and my partner went to the bank the other day to get a loan to pay for the heating. The bank refused and said it is because our account is in the hands of the debt collection agency. We have not been paying the mortgage as we didnt know we had to, we were under the impression that the mortgage was frozen until the life insurance paid it off. We have had no letters at all from the bank saying they want payment and no letters even stating that we were now responsible. How can we now be in arrears! If you dont pay your phone bill u get reminders etc, is it any different with a mortgage? What can we do to get out of this mess. We are currently looking to remortgage and now with this black spot on our record i doubt we shall be able to. Our bank is Lloyds TSB. Any advice is appreciated.

Stamps.com made unauthorized withdrawals from my account. I tried to cancel their service before the 30-day trial was up. I was not able to, despite repeated e-mails to them. My Roslyn Savings Bank account was overdrawn by nearly $100 and subsequently closed. I tried to get an bank account earlier this year, and was rejected because of being on ChexSystems. I can't even get a savings account because of what Stamps.com did.

is fair to both parties, what each should pay, what should come out of a common fund, etc. When we were young and did not have a pot to pee in, this sort of thing was not a problem. But, in later life it can be a problem.

I know someone wealthy who purchased a Harley Fatboy. He (Joseph) paid cash for the bike, I did some customizing for him and then he decided that he did'nt really want it. He sold me the bike for $21,000, I gave him $6000 down and we signed a 4 year payment contract which he drew up himself. End of november of 2005, I garaged the bike for winter (california) at my friends house where i was living. In mid January, I received a call from my friend stating that Joseph had just taken the Harley from the garage and that I was to call him. Joe stated he took the bike due to no insurance. It was covered under the homeowners policy where I lived but I went and got a years coverage anyway to get my bike back. Then he stated that I was behind on payments. He rechecked his records and he was wrong. Then Joe stated that he wanted the bike just paid in full, that he was going thru divorce and just tired of carrying the loan. He won't give me the bike, it's valued at $35,000 now. Help
