I have a very bad credit rating. When i say bad i mean B-A-A-A-D.

It started when i turned 18 and the temptation to get store cards was too much for me and I got 3 at once and was given high credit limits but didnt have the means to pay them all at the time as i only had a Saturday job.

If i knew what i know now about handling finances and credit I would have been more sensible and educated myself 1st before taking out credit.
My problem now is that my credit rating now is very bad i cannot even apply to open a current account without being declined straight away.
I now worry because I am 21 and would like to buy a house but if i cant open a current account my chances are very slim.
How can i improve my credit rating???

Its also funny how financial institutions are so quick to offer people credit but when you get in a bad situation they do not offer a service to help. Guess thats how they make money off of vunerable people.

Any good advice would be appreciated.

Several months ago my bi-polar son accessed my eBay account and put down payments on two plots of land. In order to maintain my good reputation, I have been trying to keep up with the payments, but it is very hard on Social Security. I'm old! I'm tired! I'm scared! Anyway, I have invested 4 payments of $125/mo on each of them but one is a six year committment at 9% interest. The other one is also $125/mo but is no interest and is for 20 months. I know I will lose what I have put in, but I think I should cut my losses and bail out now on the big one. I have, of course, changed my access and done whatever I can do to protect myself from further damage, but the way it is now I can't afford to get anything for myself anyway! Is it stupid to lose what is invested in order to prevent any further expense? I'm too embarrassed to ask anyone in my family since they will say - you should not have let him in the house!

My credit rating is not that great. However I do have some money stashed away for a down payment. Should I pay off all my bills with the money or pay off the bills over a period of time keeping the money in my savings for the down payment later on?

I'd rather not be like all the single mom's i've heard of and go for child support, i'm financially struggling to take care of my son and my self. why are all the assistance programs focused towards single moms? i've asked for help from his mom, she's broke...but if he's at her house for more than two days, i'm a bad dad for not giving her my last $5...is there any assistance out there, not just for women??? Like WIC, but more like DIC {Dads In Crisis}...

Since there are a lot of possible variables, here's my situation. I'm not planning on dying, just trying to figure how much life insurance I should have and what I can do ahead of time.
Single. Live with both parents. No dependents.
10k student loans
10k ING savings
10k stocks
2k IRA
2k credit card debt
4k car in my name

So far I've learned on Sallie Mae.com that student loans are eligible for discharge upon death. Good reason not to pay them off when you have a nice 3% interest rate.
Now, I'd like my parents to be able to just take my car, savings/checking accounts (they have the same bank), Roth IRA, and stocks in the event of my death. How can I allow them to do that?
Which of my debts become null? And what accounts can they claim without any effort? What can I do to make things easier for them? Also, how do taxes come into effect.
I hope others may find your answers useful as well.

This sounds a little tricky but it's not really. I am planning on filing bankruptcy in November as a result of a writ put on my bank account due to a credit card that wasn't paid off (and I was never served the papers for).

I currently live in PA but will be moving to NJ in October which is in my favor pertaining to the BK I learned. Also I am adopting my cousin's child who will be coming to live with me in Nov. I was told to wait until he is here to file because that will also help my case. My main concern is that I don't want it to go to a chap 13 BK.

Any advice on what I can do right now to help set myself up for making sure it becomes a Chapter 7 Bankruptcy would be appreciated. Thank you for your help. Any spam answers, pointless one word answers etc.. will be reported.

Thank you,
Mary

Ok here is the situation. My sister-in-law wants to get a divorce but has no $$ to get out on her own. She wants to go to a bank and get a loan using her 401K (or whatever retirement account she has) as collateral. She has about 10k in the account. Is this possible? She does NOT want to withdraw from the account because I have told her that she will get hit with big fees and loose much $$ in the process. Ideas, comments, suggestions appreciated.

There is reason to believe that my mother-in-laws 401 is being mismanaged, if there at all.
The company is verging on bankruptcy and she wants to reinvest in CDs or another 401 plan since her lifes sanings is invested in the company.
They will not allow her to withdraw any funds unless she resigns or is terminated.
She is too intimidated to continue asking like she has been for a few months.
Please help as soon as possible.
Thank You
