Okay, I currently lost my job, and well, I am pretty broke. Needless to say my mom's wedding is in a few short weeks. I found the gift her and her Fiance want..and it comes to $150.00. However I really can't afford that. I was wondering if you guys had any ideas on how to come up with the money. Thanks, any help would be greatly appreciated!

Get something that you can afford, your mom should be OK with it given your current situation. I'm sure she'd much rather have you eat than to get her a gift. You can always make it up to her when you get in a better spot financially.

buy a gift that u can offord .. she is your mum end of the day.. even if u buy her a gift worth 1000£ it wouldnt still be enough... of how much mothers do for us, and what ever u get her the thought will make her happy not the price of the gift, because its from her son it will be priceless.
and every now and then give her a gift lets say that gift u were talking about is 150$ divide that by 3 so 50$ now u can by her 3 gifts worth 50 $ diff occasiion 1 for her wedding the other two can be suprise pressies. in islam we dont have a thing called mothers day we treat everyday as a mothers day.. mothers are special ..

take care hope i helped

Just be honest with your mom. She doesn't want you to go over your head. I would show them what you had in mind and tell them you are giving them X dollars toward it and you are sorry you can't afford to get the entire item but you thought it would be perfect for them. If they want the item, they can make up the difference. If they want something else, they can use the money toward whatever they want.

Another solutions is if you have siblings or maybe even cousins/aunts/uncles/friends of your mom, see if you can get 1 or 2 others to go in on it with you. Chances are that they may also be searching for the perfect gift to buy and they'll be glad to pitch in with you, especially if you save them time by doing the shopping and gift-wrapping.

I agree with the poster above. Your mom ought to understand that it's just not in the budget right now. Get them something more affordable and get the more expensive gift when you are back on your feet. When you can afford it, you can make a big deal of it, take them to a nice dinner to present the gift and tell them it's their second reception, and they might get a big kick out of an excuse to celebrate again!
