Both Which and the Daily Mail have addressed this problem. I have had charges refunded of £100's by writing to them and saying the charges are illegal under the unfair contracts law. They normally give you the money back, but don't be fobbed off. No bank yet has gone to court to defend their charges. Be persistant, we all go overdrawn or make misteaks in our accounts. It becomes very unfair when the bank starts adding charges on top of charges, which I think has happened to you.

If it's a one-time thing, you can typically talk with someone and get the fee waived. If you've been overdrawn before, they're not going to help you.

Well, one time it happened to me, and what i did was call the bank. Just demand for someone to speak english! if you are a good customer, they should give your money back. I used to work at a bank, and we would give back one overdraft fee per year.

Go down to your local branch and smack the c**p out of a 'personal banker'. You may not get your money back but you will feel loads better.

write to them & complain, if you have had a good account in the past & this is a one off they may refund you - but then again they may not - if the charges are justified you are going to face a battle, but you should try anyway

Write a letter to head office, tell them that you have been treated badly and you intend to close your account if this amount is not refunded!
