Personal Finance - September 2006

I was hoping that someone might be able to help me out. I am trying to figure out how to resolve $74,000.00 in debt. This exists due to the fact that my husband is a compulsive spender and has strong armed me into purchases that didn't need to be made. He works full time and has been working overtime from his job when it is available to try to make ends meet. I have run my own home-based daycare for two years now taking care of everyone else's chidlren but I currently only care for one child every other week. I have also been looking for something more stable. Any ideas/suggestions/help that you can lend would be sooo greatly appreciated!

P.S. We have completely stopped making ALL unnecessary purchases but we are at a point where affording food and gas are a joke!

If I take out a 30 year mortgae but I pay the house off before 30 years do i still hae to pay the intrest for a 30 year mortgage?

I just want to be safe and get a 30 year but I should be able to pay the house off way before that...

Im in poor health and in a lot of debt for medical bills. I also want to get married, but I know I cant pay off the hospital debts any time soon, and I dont want my future wife to have to be left with the debt if I die. My life insurance is only $25,000 which hardly touches what I owe... any advice?

i ended up phoning the finance company and telling them i could no longer make the payments. they said they would come to reposses the car. now two years on they have not come to get it and the car is in my driveway. i have made no payments since and heard nothing from the finance company. am i still the legal owner of the car, and can i legally put it back on the road. i live in the uk and paid over 50 per cent of the finance before i ran into financial difficulties.

I have a horrible problem with saving money. I don't know how to do it. When I don't have money I think about all the great ways I plan a budget for when I get it again, but that never works out. I have no idea how to control it. lol. I'm really tired of living "paycheck to paycheck." I don't make a lot of money, but I'm doing something that I love and to me that's really all that matters. I have to save about a thousand dollars by September of 2007 for a cruise that I'm going on. I figured, maybe if I have something really big to save up for it'll be easier. So far... no good. Does anyone have any suggestions?

we have received calls from companies claiming my husband has registered on their sites and applied for loans at a car dealership and for a credit card. The person gave an email address that is not my husbands. it was all done on the internet on Sunday. How could we find out who did this?

My fiancé and I put all our money in a pot, mine is his and his is mine… but when he asks for money and I say that I don’t have it (and honest to God I don’t, and he knows that!) he gets mad. He’s always asking me to use my over draft protection so that I can get gas money for him. If I say no, then he gets mad and claims that I don’t care about his job, that it’s not a priority. I feel that this is unfair. I have over a grand in bounced check (yes I know that this is wrong) because we needed this and we needed that (food, gas ect… only things that we NEEDED) but I am TRIED of having to do illegal acts to get money.

Has anyone else been in this position? Am I wrong for taking a stand? What should I do, I need advice… (and please don't say leave him, i need to know how to work through this not give up)

My husband had a bad accident on the M4 15 months ago after a driver who had fallen asleep behind the wheel drove him off the road. He suffered a lot of minor injuries/brusing. He twisted his ankle and suffered whiplish after hitting a concrete police monitering stand. The sleepy driver did not stop and the police couldn't trace him. We applied to MIB(untracable drivers fund) for compensation for the injuries. The car was written off but was only worth £100 so we didn't claim for that. 15 months on my husband still needs physio on his neck. The offer from the MIB is £2500 and free private physio until his neck is better. Is this a good offer, we don't know what the going rate is for a near death experience on the M4. What do you think?

what do you do about a $720 loan you have to pay back and they want $240 a month to pay it back but you cant give that much because you are on a limted income of less then $800 a month. and there telling you that if somethang is not done in the next 48 hours they will start garnishing your wages. which in my case means that i wont be able to pay my bills.

I have a lump sum and would like to use it to help reduce my mortgage. Would it be better to use the money and pay off a chunk of it in one go or spread it over a few years of monthly overpayments? Thanks for your help in advance.

I have received a bill from my supplyer for £222 for the 3 summer months I only live in a terraced 2 bed house I know that prices have gone up but this seems ridiculas to me the reading is correct any answers on how to cut down ps we are oap's.
