Personal Finance - September 2006

I need to find extremely credible resources in personal finance specifically the debates of 'term vs. whole' insurance, 'time in the market vs. timing in the market' and 'lower gauranteed rates of return vs. riskier higher rates of returns' regarding investments (which is more worth it).

what if i signed a contract when i was underage?
When i was 16 i signed a mobile phone contract (stupidly) but the minimum age was 18, i put in a different date of bith and the contract was allowed.
After some time i ceased to pay the bill(woops) and now credit agencies contact me asking for repayment, so i contacted them and they told me that my parents are liable, i think there just saying that, and were really quite rude :-( i didnt know what i was commiting too at the time. Now they have sent the account for "futher action" what are they going to do? ahhh lol

thankyou guys if you can help :-)

I need to know if I should file bankruptcy. I have read online that IF you do not have ANY valuable assets, and limited pay, meaning NOTHING by law that a creditor can take from you that there is no need to file bankruptcy? Amount owed is all credit cards (about $15,000 maybe a little more) and also a home morgage that I would be happy to include. Is it better to just let them charge off the cards or to file bankruptcy? I have NO valuable assets at all and also get a SMALL amount of help from the state. I will answer any questions... I need TRUE advice on this PLEASE!

For the first time we made an electronic payment to the mortgage company using our online banking. Two weeks after the electronic payment was send we received a letter of delinquency stating we missed our payment. We contacted them directly and found out we had a typo in our account #. The mortgage company found our money in the wrong account, which they stated was closed (Why didn't the system reject our electronic payment?). They told us that they would fix the problem and that no harm was done.

Now a week later they called and said that their system cut a check to the person owning the closed account who cashed it immediately. The mortgage company is now holding us responsible for this error on their end and they want us to resend our payment. After some yelling they agreed to credit freeze our account until they retrieve the funds back, without posting our payment to our account.

Is it legal that the mortgage company holds us responsible for the payment they gave away?

Father passed away before he could legalize the will. It went through probate with daughters inheirt 50% of property. The relative who is 74 age believe the will is in forced which allows he to stay there until his demised. I tried to refinance but the title is cloudly. I needed an S.I. from each relative who are over the age of 65. They believe the house belongs to the brother and no need to give serious information to no body. I tried twice to refinance each title company said that they would need S.I's. This is very costly to me and sister. I would like to follow my father's wishes, but financially I can't. I want to sell the house split profit with sister and help my uncle find another place to stay. With this going on what can I aspect to happen legally if they purse this with an attonery?

Some people come on here asking for legitimate help. It is not appriciated when you get smartass copmments from people!! If you can't be of real help don't respond. People make mistakes all the time, nobody is perfect so keep your trash talking to yourselves. It takes a lot of guts to ask for help and people who are ******* make it even harder.
