You are seeing consistently different answers $ 20/hr & 15.38/hr because the question is being interpreted differently. Question is stated as 37.5 weeks. Does that mean 37.5 weeks per year or 37.5 hours per week?

If they work 37.5 hours per week @ 52 weeks/ year then they will have worked 1,950 hours in the year. 30,000/1950 = 15.38/hr.

If they work 37.5 weeks in the year (@ 40 hrs. per week) = 1500 hours worked in the year. 30,000/1500 = $ 20/hr.

Hope that helps!

Not that I know of, either in Illinois or any place else. In most places you have to be at least 16 to work, and most workers that age start at minimum wage and work their way up. Maybe you could do some odd jobs like lawn and garden work, snow shoveling, or other chores, even baby sitting. Yeah, guys baby sit too. Why not? Especially if they plan to be fathers some day. Just be patient, and when you're another year older, you might be able to work a real job at a fast food place, or other industry that hires young people. But be realistic as far as salary goes. Very few first-time workers start out at 20 to 30 thousand a year. Set your sights a little bit lower so you won't be disappointed. Good luck!

Between 14 and 20 per hour. They may only work 37.5 weeks, but they could still be paid weekly for the entire year even the weeks that they don't work.
PS just take the 30,000 divide by the amout of weeks (37.5) then divide by the amout of work hours in a week (40).

About $15 an hour, but it depends on how many hours they work. The simple way to calculate this estimate it is to drop the rightmost 3 zeroes from the annual salary ($30,000 in this case) and then divide by 2. Voila!

BTW, at 37.5 hours per week, it is exactly $15.38 per hour. If the person works a little less or a little more hours per week, adjust the estimate accordingly (more hours=lower per hour rate and vice versa). In future, people who ask this question of you will be astonished at how fast you give them the answer. :)

I see many are bright enough to calculate this simple problem, but only one is bright enough to do it in less than a second. Please, please--no applause...just "best answer". Thank-you.

Mr. Slandguy down below who said "If YOU can't do the math you should not be getting paid $30,000/yr." If you can't read that the asker said "THEY only work 37.5 weeks...", then you shouldn't be allowed near sharp objects.

$30,000 divided by 52 because there are 52 weeeks in a year= $576.92.

You take that number and divide it by the number of hours they work each week- say 40 hours

They make $14.42 an hour

Assuming they work 40 hours a week.....40 hr/wk times 37.5 weeks = 1500 hours. $30,000 divided by the 1500 hours worked equals $20.00 per hour gross pay. Taxes, insurance and any other deductions are then taken, resulting in the net pay.

Just over $15. You divide $30,000 by 52(52 weeks in a year), then you divide that total by 37.5 hours and you get your answer.

Assuming a person works a regular full time job: they work 2080 hours in one year. Then to do the math...

$30,000 / 2080hours = $14.423076923076923076923076923077 per hour.

Your company will round that off to: $14.42 per hour.

FYI:
52 weeks per year * 5 days per week working * 8 hours per day working = 2080 work hours per year.

if they work 40 hours a week, then 40 x 37.5 = 1500
$30,000 divided by 1500 hours = $20 per hour

LMAO at these answers!! boy a lot of ppl are dumb!!

multiply 37.5 times 52 weeks which equals 1950 hours in your case and then divide 30,000 by 1950 which equals 15.3846 per hour.
