If you have not been contacted about a debt for over 6 years can a debt collector still persue you for the debt?

I you owe it pay it then there is no worry about collectors.

I understand that if the last contact you had about the debt was six years or more ago, the statute of limitations has passed and the debt is cancelled. But this means any contact at all, whether or not you denied it was you.

You may be able to check with consumer direct on their helpline which I think is free or at Citizen's Advice.

To my knowledge a debt is only spent once you have cleared it or a CCJ has been awarded against you and 6 years have passed by. Theoretically a creditor can chase you for repayment at any time.

They can haunt you for a very long time. There is a statute of limitations law for every state. After that time they legally shouldn't bother you but that doesn't keep them from trying... Heck, If I had money coming from someone who did me wrong I would haunt them till they do what it morally right..

PAY WHAT YOU OWE !!

Shame on all the people out there screwing over people when those people have families and bills too. !

I believe not but i am not an authority on the law but I have always thought after 6 years its void
