The application part where it says "your past employment & experience" ---

besides tutoring and teaching random kidsf from my church how to play the violin
oh, and a temporary job as a pet sitter over break (which ended as my employer and i got into a huge argument)
I HAVE NOTHING!!

Problem is, I don't keep in contact with any of the kids I used to teach... and the pet sitting employer will probably say bad things about me if contacted...

questions are:::
1]]] so SHOULD I JUST NOT WRITE DOWN ANYTHING and pretend i never worked????!!!?? 2]]] ...or do you think it's a good idea write down different # (for the tutoring part - since i was privately employed)?

3]]] or if i put all the info down and check "no" where it says "could we contact that employer?"...............will they really not contact them?

4]]] and for that, will they think weird - like all suspicious and stuff???

help me pleasee!!!

I will be graduating from college in August, and I have a job interview next week! I am pretty nervous and have a few questions. Since this is my first "professional" job interview - what type of things can I expect? What should I wear? Is there anything I can do to increase my chances, or is it ultimately up to them in the end?

Suggestions, ideas, and motivations appreciated! ^_^

I've been looking for a job for a while in computer techology and I just moved to Fallbrook, CA so I decided to apply to various jobs around the area. Long story short, I applied to the Casino and was hired as a reservations agent with low pay but great, full benefits. Now, they are doing a long, extensive background check. In the process I received an offer from another place. It's a less known company but they also have benefits and the position would be in a computer related field.

Here are the two companies and position:
Casino

Other company
http://adicio.adicio.com/careers/jobsearch/detail?state=CA&jobId=1069158&viewType=main&networkView=main&offset=

Any suggestions?

I am 28 and would like to switch careers and have always wanted to present the news on t.v. I really belive I would excel at this but do not know where to start. I know I need to begin with an entry level position but I'm not sure how to go about it. All of the online sites suggest an internship but at this point in my life I cannot work without pay. Does anyone have any expertise/suggestions on this?

i went on an interview with a pretty big name company last week tuesday, they said they would be making a decision soon on the position, but i havent heard from them, nor have any of my references been called for verification. Does that mean I didn't get the job? The job required everything I'm doing now except the company is bigger and has more opportunities, so I know I'm qualified, but just want to know if they normally take more than a week or since they said soon they meant asap?

In a nutshell, i was with my boss and antoher coworker. we were supposed to have a celebration on monday and we then decided we would do it on tuesday. He kept asking this other coworker if he thought people would mind (the other coworker (like myself) should his head like 'ofcourse not' b/c it really wasn't a big deal. So I said with a smile and very professoinal "Why would you imagine they would mind?" Well, it was a genuine question, then he looked at me and said "Its a consensus, Mary, it's called a consnensus." He said it in such a condescending tone i felt red and embarrased. What would you do. Thanks to everyone for their guidance.

I am 20 and currently doing part-time work as a telemarketer for my university during the summer.

My vocal teacher offered me an opportunity to sing Soprano 1 at a church. You sing twice a day on Sundays and the pay is supposedly pretty good. However the church is located 45 minutes drive from my location. I don't have a car, and I'm not sure how long it takes by bus.

Would you try for this singing job or just forget it because of the transportation problem?
( I don't live with my parents either, so I can't ask them to drive.)

Hi There

I have recently been made and offer that jointly start up a business, now before I carry on I am currently a full time student (and University) and am very dependent on that status. Now my question is that if I become a partner within the business will that nullify me full time student status? and is there anyway of avoiding loosing that status?

I have degrees coming out the wazuu and still the jobs are being given to people who don't even have half the qualifications that I have. It makes me so angry that I just want to say to hell with all you bastards. I'm getting so tired of playing this losing game. You spend a fortune on getting the best education avaliable, and then the job goes to someone who is not even qualified. If I had all the money back that I spent on getting a good education, I would not need to look for work...I'd be a rich man. What kind of society is this anyway? I'm so tired of being crapped on. I just want to run away and live in a little log cabin in the woods, and they can all take their god damn job and shove it where do sun don't shine. This rat race is really wearing me down, and I don't know what to do about it.

I have worked in an office for 9 years and now would like a career change. I would like to work as a housekeeper or as a Chamber Maid in a hotel. I am capable of the skills but have no previous training in this area or references to support me yet - only my office related work - how do I train or get a job to start me on this career path? I have looked on places like gumtree but all applicants need generally at least 2 refs in this line of work or experience......but how do you start out?! Please help! Thanks!

I'm redueing my resume because I haven't had much luck on finding a job and I think it's because the only education I have is HS. Would it be wrong to say I'm working my my associates in some type of degree just to boost my resume a little. I will be working on my associates degree soon, but haven't started on it just yet.

Here is the question
What are your top 2 strengths?
If someone had a resume identical to yours, how would you describe what makes you unique? What’s not on paper?
If you can, please explain significance testing in your own words?

First of all, i just recently turned 16 at the beginning of this month and i have no previous emplyment experience. I have also managed to apply for 3 jobs: Toys' R Us, walgreens, and Academy. I am a US citizen and I am able to work legally :]
I know that each place is different in terms of emplyment and time, but i'm just a little extra anxious since its my first time trying to get a job. How long should the usual waiting period for them to contact me to tell me whether i got the job or not?

Thanks in advance.

I started a new job and its soooo boring. I can't quit because i'm only going to be working there for ten days anyway. I never feel like going in the morning and I get really sad and tired and I just don't feel like talking. I ask people if they want to do surveys on the phone and some people are very rude which makes it even worse. What can I do?

You have job offer contigent of verification of education, background etc. Your final degree education is from another country from 18 years ago.
The only verification left is education and it could take time because things in that country work kinda slow.

The new employer needs you to start at a particular date and for that to happen you have to give in 2 weeks notice before education verification is finalized and before u get an final ok confirmation from new employer.

Would you give the 2 weeks notice and take risk that all would go ok? Or you wudnt want to risk in case things go wrong.

There is no issue with the education except for the verification process.

I accepted a job thru a staffing firm and I was to start last Friday. The job was for an accounting position. The whole day I was stuck answering the phones and had nothing to do. My boss decides to hire and then leaves to go on vacation for 2 weeks. I wasn't sure why I was hired if she was going to leave. I think it was the staffing company wanting to take me out of the job market so I wouldn't look for another job. She indicated in our interview that she wanted to rearrange the office and totally train my position. I was ok, but I had no idea she was leaving for two weeks.
So of course I go in to day and ask can I assist anyone and all said no, and basically I was stuck answering the phone again. I made up an excuse and left early because I REFUSED to sit there and look at the wall.
They called the staffing firm and basically said they did not want me back.
I don't get these staffing companies? Why do they do this crap? Wasted my time.
