Chin up, there is nothing wrong with working where ever you can to accommodate your class schedule. When I get a resume from someone who has gone through college and no work experience it makes me really sit back and take a second look at that person. Why could they not have worked somewhere, at least part time, to earn money while going to school? I worked full time and went to school full time all through school. It teaches you time management, prioritizing your projects and shows real dedication in my mind.
I worked for a temp agency on school breaks (I went to school out of the area and came home for breaks), one time I was the easter bunny and took photo's with kids. Hey, it was the hours I needed and I was making money. Do what it takes!
Good luck.

I am 25 and when I was 24 I worked at a Cumberland Farms, this was my first ever job that wasn't a college needed job. I was there for the health insurance and I only worked two nights a week, but to tel you the truth I was really embarrassed to work there. and I quit.
I totally understand what you are asked, but I don't think there actually is shame in it. None of my friends made fun of me. My mother and my boyfriend asked me to quit because I was doing closing shifts alone.
As long as you can get over it everyone else should be fine.

No not at all. Most retail companies support college students because they are willing to work around their schedule. I recommend you continue to work there until something else comes up or until you finish school. Who knows, you might even work your way up to assistant manager. It happens! Just keep going to school and once you earn your degree you will be able to find a good paying job in the field that you like. Good luck and God bless.

I would not call working at retail a shame. It may not be what you want to do long-term. But you are no doubt getting good experience working with customers, dealing with rejection, making sales. All of these skills will prove to be invaluable later on in your career.
It would be a shame to NOT be working.

Retail and fast food are common part-time jobs for students. Why would it be shameful?
If you can do an internship as part of your college studies, it would help you in your job search after college.
