I applied for a job at a junior college in another state and my interview went well. I was even asked to send in samples of my work via email. I was then told (via email) that "HR would be in touch soon" regarding my application. It has been 2 weeks... was that just a brush off or do I keep waiting? Should I call HR?

I work at Kmart. There's a man that works there who sometimes works up front with the customers. He has a swastika tattooed on his bisep and the managers allow him to wear a short sleeve shirt. And I noticed he's only friendly to white customers with blonde hair and blue eyes. Don't you think the managers should make him wear a longer sleeved shirt to cover his tattoo, or at least put him in the back where he can't be rude to any customers?

I've seen a lot of questions in the genre of "I did ____ and now I have a drug test tomorrow, will it still be in my system?" questions, and many of the answers follow the "dude you're screwed" idea.

From an employability stand point, if someone is sure that they cannot pass a drug test what is the best response for the employee. Take the test and fail, refuse the test/quit the job (seems to be the consequence if you refuse), or . . . ?

Not that I have a real need for the info, but I'm curious. I've always wondered what people did, and what they should have done. All relevant responses are appreciated.

so I got a new part time job and when I was hired I was told I was PART TIME working a couple days a week. I've been there for a month now and have been working any where from 4-6 days a week, ON TOP of working a second job that they KNEW about before hiring me. I have worked my other job now for two years and this is my main job with insurance so I can't cut hours there. How do I ask them whats going on and if its going to change, as of right now they are NOT being flexable and not working with my other schedule with doesn't work for me!

call a place that I mailed a resume to after about a week? I really want the job but feel like since they have not called me that they probably already filled the position.
Thanks.

I have been unemployed for 3 months now with no luck, so I signed up for a temp agency. They called me tell me they got a call from a company I interviewed for back in '05. I was the runner-up. They wanted me for a temp to perm position that fits my skills to a T plus the salary is great. It's work I love to do, so I jumped at it. I've been there for 1 week & everyone there tells me they want to hire me. Great, BUT...The company is located next to the Philly airport & south of the 3 football/baseball/concert arenas. I live 45 min by car (w/no traffic). I decided it's best to use public trans. So to get there, I take the regional rail train to center city Philly, hop on the subway, jump onto bus & then walk a few yards. Then I repeat the process in reverse. The bus picking up to take me home, doesn't run frequently. I've been working 9-5:15 & still get home about 7-7:30. On average, it takes me over an hour either way.
What to do? I have little debt, rent +. No kids, just hubby.

When looking for a job, I find lots of ads (particularly from staffing firms) saying "Fortune 500" or "working with Fortune 500 Clients". My first thought is "big deal". It's like some $9 per hour job. Is it supposed to impress me that I'm lining the pockets of some company that's already super-wealthy while I eke by in the poverty bracket? Am I supposed to hold pride-in-affiliation more dear to me than making a substantial income? Is there a hidden benefit to working with Fortune 500 clients?

I've been working at Petco part time (2 days a week) for about two weeks. They put me on cash register with barely any training or help. I should've recieved alot more training than was given to me and my boss knows it. I mess up all of the time and have to frequently ask for help. It is so embarrassing for me. I requested that they transfer me into the grooming department. They are so understaffed in the retail part of the store, they wouldn't transfer me. I absolutely hate workinging in retail!

I have little time for school, my artwork, or time to rest. I really need to quit this job. It is not worth it. I really don't need the money. I would rather find a job more suited to my personality.

I have discussed my concerns with my boss. I worked yesterday, which I really didn't want to do, but my boss asked if I would. I am suppossed to work on Wednesday. I would really just like to say no and quit. I don't think I can take anymore of this!

What should I do!?

I was wondering the requirements of this job, mostly as far as age. I checked walgreens.com and other pharmacy's sites and the trend seems to be 18. But I have heard of people getting the job before their 18th birthday. Can anyone confirm this?

I dont turn 18 until June 2008, so maybe I should wait to apply until closer to that date? Also, does anyone know the wages? I heard they were quite well.
