As for business management, project management is a pretty fast-track for that position - anywhere from business coordinator to project coordinator to project management.

Project management is a very difficult position depending on the company and the power it gives to the position. In most top places, it gives the utmost power right after the president. Sounds good like getting the keys to a sports car- just don't ding up the sports car. Misallocating funds and resources is a fast way to lose your position.

On the flipside, the position can be difficult because you become an inpromptu boss which no one will listen to at particular companies. You may have to work with various groups which will have no career impact if they choose or not choose to help you complete the project. Not complete the project, you're out of a job.

Get your Demming models straight and show them the power of TQM and you'll turn a losing company around in no time.
