I have agreed to buy a house, subject to the contract (I haven't signed anything yet). But after doing the survey, I felt dissatisfied, and told the vendor that I want to cancel the purchase.

The vendor asked to read the survey, and afterwards, he sent me a letter, refuting every criticism in the survey. He assured me that everything with the house is fine.

I'm not sure how to respond. Does the vendor mean to force me to buy it? How can I pull out?

I work as a delivery driver for a company who owns several routes (contracts) for a major delivery company. I earn $90 per day. I often exceed 40hrs a week according to the flsa I should qualify for overtime, but my employer has not compensated me for this time. Are they exempt because of their contract status from paying their employees overtime?

I am a 20 yr old server for a sports bar. Occasionally we will have a table "dine and dash" or leave without paying their bill. As a server, I am required to pay for their meal. How is this remotely appropriate? Shouldnt the restaurant carry insurance of some sort for walk-outs? Also, when a table walks out and they have alcohol on their bill, is it still legal to make me buy it? even though i'm not 21? Why am I punished for someone else?

I have been employed for 10 years. No write-ups. No disciplinary actions. I am fearful that building I am in will be closing therefore I have been applying for lateral positins within another building/same company. I have applied for 4 lateral changes and 1 promotional change and nobody has responded. I have had my resume looked over by several people who have all "approved" of it. I am qualified for the positions I have applied for and some positions i am over-qualified for. Some of positions I am applying for have supervisors that have been w/the company half the length of time that I have been w/ the comp. Nobody will call me back for an interview or to let me know why I am not being chosen for an interview. I questioned HR and asked for their advise, it took HR 3 weeks to respond with a simple"call w/concerns". I am now forced to find other employment as I do not want to be without a job or stay at a dead end job. Is my job discriminating agains me? Do I have a legal case?

a dog cracked my tooth at work 3 years ago when i was holding it while it was being groomed. i didnt know it was cracked until the next day, but since i didn't "report" it within 24 hours, my store manager said they wouldnt pay for anything. i did file an incident report though. i went to the dentist and they said to just wait until the tooth becomes loose and they will replace the tooth... but this could be anywhere from 2 - 20 years to happen. now i need a root canal because of the pain, but it has been 3 years. i will pay ATLEAST $300 out of pocket.

do i have a case?

I can't help but feel discriminated against and violated because of my gender. A criminal history and my experience was discussed prior to me being hired. I was given a desk, a cell phone, business cards, company credit card, an email account, access to membership logins, upgraded my laptop, I was told how well I was going to do in this job (by both owners) and I was introduced to three of their major clients. I was hired and actively working. The day of the incident, November 16, 2007 the owner and maint. supervisor and I came back from a meeting. I found out that Mrs. Owner unfairly invaded my privacy by performing exhaustive searches of public records. She found out I use to be an ex topless entertainer over 7 years ago and went around the office questioning people and exposed this private information to them w/o my consent. After a questioning session on Fri., Mrs.Owner questioned my marriage, sterotyped me & said she had to go pray about it. Then 2 Mondays later I was let go.

The last job that I had, only lasted 6 months and I went into a job agency today that told me, I had to have at least 1 year of job experience with the same company (minimum) after the conviction, (which happened a year ago) for them to be able to work with me. It's been HELL finding a job and needless to say, I am starting to get a little discouraged, after 3 months of no money coming in. I have my own apartment, I'm trying to go back to school in January, but most employers want me to live in the past and keep throwing my ONE MISTAKE in my face, instead of allowing me to move forward and giving me a chance to make a decent living for myself. I am telling employers the truth about my conviction, and it seems like they like me and my resume, but as soon as they see misdemeanor for petty theft, they immediately turn me away even for Industrial jobs. I don't want to lie, but it seems that I have to, to get ahead.
If I tell them that I worked for my cousins limo business, will it work?

I'm 23 - I was charged with forgery at 18 & grand theft at 21. I am still on probation due to my second charge but plan on having my record expunged when my probation is complete. I realize the mistakes I made & have grown a lot in the last two years.

At 19 - I went to tech. school for half of a semester but decided to withdraw from the program I was in. A few years have passed & I am serious about going to school & furthering my education. The only thing that's holding me back is my felony record & that I'm having a hard time deciding what to major in.

I'm planning on going to a University & I'm fully supported by family in my actions to do so. But I'm unsure what I should go for because of my criminal record. Here are some things that I'm interested in but I'm not sure as a felon I'll be able to succeed:

1. Computer Science
2. Psychology
3. Veterinary Medicine
3. RN or PA
4. Music

I've done a lot of research on the net...but any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

The position is really part time but we kept it full time because of the transition between new owner of the company. The employee requested medical leave and was out for over a month. The doctor has release them for part time basis until fully recovered. We prefer to keep the position part time. Are we legally obligated to reinstate the full time hours or can we keep them part-time?

I'm not sure about something that happened at work tonight but it's on my mind so I thought I would get your opinion...

There's a guy who I've only really said hello to and have talked about work related stuff with. I was on the phone with a guest and while I was on the phone, he started touching my shoulders and arms (a close friend works with me so I thought it was maybe her so i didn't do anything). Just as I was finishing up the call, he moved his head close to my face and was about to kiss me on the cheek and I gave him a dirty look. He made a joke about how I gave him a dirty look and I pretty much ignored him after that and he went away.

What he did just bothers me because I don't know him. I'm not sure if I should say anything or just see how he is in the future. I know of a guest complaint about him whistling at another guest as she walked by so there is a small history of him doing inappropriate things while on the job.

How do you think I should handle this?

I interviewed with a different supervisor and manger for this position. Neither however is available to help me deal with this issue. I have worked in the medical field many years. Recently having an injury preventing me from returning to contact position I took a medical insurance office job to utilize my skills. This is something totally different but I figured I would do well since there was suppose to be "3 wks of training and 6 months to really fit into the job comfortably" as I was told.
I just completed my 90 day probation period and received my first evaluation-it was poor. So poor to the point I have two weeks to change my performance or I’m fired. I have NEVER had a poor work performance evaluation before.
Apparently during the 90 days anytime I asked questions or had someone assist me with my new job, it was considered disciplinary actions taken against my work performance while I was under the impression I was still in the learning process. I am no longer to ask team members questions. My boss has informed me that she took "numerous measures by having trusted staff to assist me with my errors to overcome them and yet I continue to make mistakes". So literally I can not make ANY mistakes or ask questions. I think this is unreasonable, but I want to improve and keep this job that I really do like what I do.
What would you suggest?

Recently I asked to take a longer lunch because I had a doctor appt. and my boss asked me if I had a doctor appointment or if it was "something else". I think she was a bit paranoid that day because a coworker recently moved on to a different job and I think she is concerned I will too. I'm not (yet!).

For future reference:
Does it make a difference if it is a whole day or part of a day?

Does it matter what the time off is for? Examples: Medical? Funeral? Wedding? On the request for time off form I usually check "other" but I've also talked about what whatever I was doing.

PTO is banked together; no specific "vacation days" or "sick days". Personnel policies do not cover this specifically. It's a small, private, non profit funded by state and federal monies.

Boss is nosy and her work boundaries are a little loose which makes me uncomfortable so I'm increasingly touchy about this. I don't know what is legal and and what is not for her to ask me about.

My ex boss offered me a job but wanted to pay cash. She completely denied this to unemployment, but I have the job refusal email and it specifically states I cannot accept a cash position from you because it doesn't cover me as a legal employee. Now Unemployment has to go through the proper channels to see if I can still get benefits. They have the emails from me to my boss and then my boss's email back stating she was sorry she had to lay me off in the first place and good luck. She didn't deny the cash offer in the emails. Do you think Unemployment is in my favor? I have been actively seeking a job so I deserve my benefits!
