I have been employed for 10 years. No write-ups. No disciplinary actions. I am fearful that building I am in will be closing therefore I have been applying for lateral positins within another building/same company. I have applied for 4 lateral changes and 1 promotional change and nobody has responded. I have had my resume looked over by several people who have all "approved" of it. I am qualified for the positions I have applied for and some positions i am over-qualified for. Some of positions I am applying for have supervisors that have been w/the company half the length of time that I have been w/ the comp. Nobody will call me back for an interview or to let me know why I am not being chosen for an interview. I questioned HR and asked for their advise, it took HR 3 weeks to respond with a simple"call w/concerns". I am now forced to find other employment as I do not want to be without a job or stay at a dead end job. Is my job discriminating agains me? Do I have a legal case?

They could be discriminating against you, but you would have to prove it. Documentation always helps. You could talk to an attorney and see what he says, but in some companies, in order to file a complaint you have to go through the proper procedures, starting in-house. Good Luck!

It doesn't sound like you have any sort of case. Exactly what kind of discrimination do you think is going on? Race? Age? Are there too many people in your company trying to transfer into a small/limited number of jobs?

I would advise against applying for positions for which you are overqualified. If a manager really is interested in you and then realizes you are overqualified, they will worry about you being bored and unmotivated in your job.

Keep on top of HR--don't let them go 3 weeks (and I don't understand your explanation of their return phone call to you).

Have someone professional (and neutral) look at your resume. Make sure everything looks good and that there are no *misspellings*.
