He came to my office unanounced with some other staff person and looked around. I saw them and looked up. I said are you checkiing out this p-hole we call an office? My tone was light and joking. He responds by saying at least you have a job. then he goes c'mon I have consultants here. But by his initial answer I was taken aback. He asked me a question about the office and then left. I may have been somewhat out of place but if he is threatening my job I feel that is harsh. Should I take that comment as a threat to my job? Is it legal for employers to say things like that to employees?

In 2003 I was ill and had major surgery. I was out on medical leave for approximately 8 weeks after being ill for over a year and a half and being hospitalized. When it came time to review my performance, my boss said my work performance was sub-par and denied my raise. Is this legal? Also, is there a statute of limitations - I would really like to file a claim against my employer for lost wages. And yes, after all this time it still bugs me!

I thought it was illegal to ask somebody about their marital status in either a job application or an interview. I also thought it was illegal to ask if an applicant has children. Please answer.

I started a new job last monday, it has 4 weeks training at the start of it, I only took the job as I had been out of work for a month and I had,nt heard back from any of the other job interviews which I attended, I have now been offered the job which I wanted which is to start next week, would I have to work any notice in the job Im in now, it would be pointless for me to do another weeks training when I know im leaving, and to be honest I don,t think I could stand another week there,

any suggestions?

Now he is encouraging me to apply for disability. I could get better soon and be able to work again. Legally what should I do ensure that I keep my job?

I want to pierce my nose, but I have landed a great job with an attorney as a legal assistant (and am studying to be a paralegal). I do want my piercing to be small, modest and "quiet". Should I ask my boss how he would feel about it (and not do it if he gives me a negative reaction)? Or just do it and hope he wont fire me? Can he fire me for something like that?
Ive seen other girls with piercings and tattoos that work in the industry...I just dont know how my boss will react.

I just got fired today. the manager said i threw paper at him, which was not at all true. The company never even asked if i did it or not. i was going to try and give me side but when i went into the office i already saw my check on the table so i felt it would be pointless. when i put the paper on his desk he even asked me if i wanted a copy. thats not something you would say to someone who just threw something at you. also i was fired about 2 or more after this alleged incident took place. the manager never even said anything to me about it until he said i was fired. this was at-will employment but what options do i have? i know if i said he touched my penis in the restroom they wouldn't just fire him, they would atleast ask him about the acquisation. any ideas would be apprcated.

I think that I have applied to every law firm in Indiana. I do not have any law experience, but how can I if no one will hire me. I have an Associate's Degree in Business and now I am going for my Bachelor's Degree in Business Management. I heard that it doesn't matter what your degree is in.

Since the legal job market is so tight, can lawyers get hired as papalegals in order to stay in the legal industry? Or are they overqualified and thus automatically disqualified?

I work as a cashieer. On Monday my till was £20 short. However on that day at least one other person used it, and he has a reputation for loosing a lot of money out of his till. I dont know if anyone else used it yet, but my boss is going to make me and any other who was on that till that day pay that twenty back.

I'm furious however because my boss put this guy on my till and now some money has gone missing and I'm suffering! If it had been only myself on the till I wouldn't mind, its my own stupid fault, but the fact that these days we're forced to share till's throughout the day and this is causing these problems is making me mad.

So, can my boss make me pay back 'my part' of the money missing from that day, considering he made us use the same till and this guy has had money missing before? (once around £50 went missing iirc)

I am almost 16 years old. I am not sure what i want to be when I get older, but I am interested in law. I got interested in it by watching law and order:svu, and now I want to learn more about it. What are some jobs that involve the law? I thought of a lawyer of course, but I don't think I could do that, since I have social anxiety. my anxiety isn't all that bad as I am on medication but being a lawyer is something that is porbably not possible for me. But I would have loved to do that. So can someone tell me some other law jobs? Thank you!

I am about 15 years younger than the other woman that work in my department. When we are all together, they huddle up and basically exclude me from the conversation. One on one, we are fine, but when it's the three of us together, they huddle up and basically ignore me. Should I confront the situation or just let it be? They are older than me and we are in different pages in our lives!!! I would like for all of us to get along really well all together, but feel like retreating. What should I do?
