i stay in some apartments that are right next door to the school I go to. i signed a 12 month lease and i want to get out, because my roommate (she signed her own lease and I signed mine) she moved her boyfriend in the apartment with us, he's here all the time. She goes home on the weekend and leave her keys with him and he have his friends in here they come and wash there clothes here and they be in the kitchen cooking to. We also have a extra bedroom that nobody stays in and he let his friends come over and spend the night. I think it is totally disrespectful of her to let him stay here and let him do the things he do. i have wrote the managers 2 letters and i have talk to the general manager so i can move to another apartment and they haven't done anything. Do you think I can break my lease?

My mom has worked for Taget Stores for the last 15 years. She went into the hospital recently for depression. Target let her back to work, told her it would be unexcused as they don't except "doctor's notes", but wanted to know why she was in the hospital. My mom refused to tell them why since it was not going to help her anyways.

They threaten her with her job and my wife called stating if they did not leave her alone my wife would make a complaint with the labor board. Thus far my mother has had her work hours cut from 40 hours a week to 26. A mangers son has the most hours and they said her hours are to low to keep her health insurance.

Does she have any form of a case? Should we seek a lawyer? What actions does my mother have.

She's 58 years old, work there for 15 years, and lives in California.

Please help. Only serious answers only, all others will be reported!

i received a job email from jobstreet that is UK bound. i tried applying and after a few days i got an email informing me of being qualified. it's a job abroad for UK for office staff post.from the start, the whole thing is confusing. it says the company is Career Care Center then Card International UK Ltd. no interviews whatsoever, i am instantly qualified. they instructed me to prepare papers etc. surfed the internet about the company and no such thing exists. not until october 10 when it launched its site with links that doesnt function. when a friend tried to inquire thru web contact data in their site about the company, he received an email from the site stating that he was qualified and must prepare docs. WHAT! and the company requires 3800 as 2-day training in one flyff training and review center.they dont even disclose the company's address in job ads or in their site. all appplicants online too were shortlisted, wow!not poea accredited too. am i on my way to be conned?a fraud?

My daughter is a shift manager on her job, and she asked her assistant manager if she could make sure the store was clean and stocked for her shift and the assistant manager started arguing at my daughter saying how she was not going to do it when they know that each shift is responsible for cleaning and stocking before leaving. She called the manager but she was no help because she does not like my daughter, and so she ended up calling someone over her who was no help because they told her to call someone else and they never answers their phone and so she called me just so that she could have someone to talk to to help calm her down before things got out of control because the assistant was talking about all what she would do to my daughter. I told her whatever she does don't let her see her cry. She also threatened to write my daughter up and she didn't even know why. I want to know if something can be done legally. No one deserves to have to go to work and can't get along with.

I've recently been dismissed from my job for harassing someone I worked with whilst I was drunk, I've admitted it was unacceptable behavior and so was expecting to be dismissed.
During my disciplinary meeting though, one of the comments made by my manager was that part of being dismissed was that they thought 'I was a danger to other members of staff'! Can they say this, isn't this jumping to some conclusions?

We started this job 3 weeks ago, we are temps. I am stuck in a room w/ a girl who is 7 yrs. younger than me. I am trying to conduct business but she always has to blurt out by singing, whisteling, laughing, passing gas, making weird throat noises, calling her friends on the phone. She is driving me crazy but it is a good job & I don't want to complain to the boss. I don't want any friction between the 2 of us. She just is not fit for the job mentally, but can do the work. How would you handle her weirdness? Oh, & she also is always dancing in her chair, making goofy arm movements. We work for the LAW somewhat. We are in our own room so no-one can see us unless the boss comes in but the girls outside of our office can hear her. I have not mentioned anything to them.

? Ive heard a few horror stories of attorneys coming out of very good schools yet ending up with a starting salary less than 40k a yr. How does this happen is it the job market? or is it the persons lack of good qualifications? Wat does one have to do to start off with a decent salary 80k plus and eventually have a solid career as an attorney in a private practice?

Several former employees and I have been trying for over a year and a half (more in some cases) to get our 401K distributions to rollover into self-directed IRA or new employer 401K plans. The pension management company keeps saying that they are waiting for - first census data, and then now that they've received that, something else (they were not specific) from our former employer.

I've been in contact with the US Department of Labor, and they have contacted the former employer - who had indicated that they were taking care of the problem - and that we should have a distribution in 3 days - this was a month ago. Followup calls with DOL, they were going to try to contact the former employer.

Isn't there some agency that can force this to happen?
Since we are all 100% vested, can't we force our money to be released?
Can't they face big fines for this?
Finally, if we file a lawsuit, can we file for punitive damages?

I got suspended today from my job for sending an email to a co-worker. The email simply stated that no one likes you why don't you quit. I sent that email on my own time from my own personal computer. The email recipient contacted Human Resources and Security and they investigated and dug deep to find me. They found me. Said it took her a week longer to find me due to my using a proxy server.

My question....How can I be suspended and possibly fired for such a email? An email that I did at home, my time, my computer. I just don't understand it. Nothing threatening or anything like that. No one likes this person. Please tell me what i should do at this point? I'm suspended until further investigation. I can't be on the property or anything. All of this for an email that read " No one likes you. Why don't you quit?" Please advise.

I work for the NHS in hospital theatres as a porter. A vacancy has arisen for a domestic. We have been short staffed for a while now and the trust being broke would not employ any extra porters although most agree our work is causing problems due to short staff. The probelm is that our team leader is proposing that we work as both on our weekend. I.e. porter and domestic. But we work under the agenda from change, We cannot see any protection in that and the union seems disinterestead in helping us. We just get fobbed off. I personally think that I will have to refuse and insist I do the job that I am good at. We are all good at. We are all proud of our job and love it. If I refuse and as a result we are sacked. I am concerned about my pension. I am due to retire in just over 4 years after 41 years service. Will it mean that I will loose my pension at 60. It will seriously drop my pension as it is. But I can see this as the only way out. Then opt for constuctive dismissal. Any help???

(California) I signed up for a full time job with an agreement to be paid hourly. However, after two days of work I decided this wasn't the right job for me, so I quit. I have two days of work documented in a punch card at their office. I am reasonably certain I am entitled to money from the two days of work, but in case I never receive the money by the end of the pay period (at the end of this month), I'm concerned about how to go about getting my money.

Should I contact the Department of Labor? Are there any specific laws I can cite to the company to show them they owe me money?

I am the site director at a before/after school care program at a local elementary school. My program is run by the YMCA and we have 22 children in the afternoon. There is a 1:10 ratio between staff/ children. There is only myself and another woman working at the site and so the ratio is not being met. When I ask about further staff I have been told that there is a hiring shortage. They can't find anyone to fill the position.

What are my legal responsibilities as site director? Can I be sued for not meeting ratio when it is my employer who is not hiring the necessary staff? What steps can I take to protect myself?

I don't want to quit. I love the kids and the job. Plus the school is about five minutes away from my house. I want what is best for the kids as well as myself, but I can't be responsible for something I have no control over. Any and all thoughts/information is greatly appreciated.
