I have three herniated discs in my lower back. The jobs that I would like to work seem to require lifting some amount of weight which I cannot. Should I even apply? I don't want to settle for a desk job because my back can't tolerate sitting for long periods of time.

I'm a 19 year old girl whos never had a job. I feel ready to now get a job but my father constantly tells me no one will want a
19 year old working for them thats never had a job.

This puts me off getting a job or even trying as he drills into my head no one will employ me.

Is he right? He tells me to go to collage but i'd prefair work, and its not as if he has a fancey job and my mum works part time.

I just started this job a few weeks ago and am very good at what I do. (Sheet metal fabrication) When asking my supervisor a question about a job, he basically went ballistic, getting in my face and telling me over and over that he is going to beat my ***, with multiple witnesses present (at one point, the Human Resources lady even witnessed this in her office). In my opinion, he cracked under production pressure because he has only been a boss for about a month total from what I understand. Regardless, I have a feeling the company is not interested in addressing the issue any further. I, however, am interested. Thanks in advance for your input.

I would like to be a lawyer one day and I was wondering, do I have to major in something else, say history, for the first four years, and then I finally go to law school for the next three? Or do I major in Law for all seven years?

HR manager called and asked for 2 professional references. So i emailed those to her right away. The hiring managers told me they were probably going to decide today. I havent heard from them, and I know they havent called my references yet since I still keep in touch with them. What is up with this? I thought it was a good sign they called for my references after I know they interviewed everyone. Why would they bother otherwise? But now I am discouraged because I haven't heard anything and they haven't even called my references yet. Anyone have any insight?

i'm filling out an online job application for a volunteer position as an assistant graphic designer. The application has a box for "experience" and one for "qualification". how do the two differ from each other?

for example- I was editor-in-chief of my high school yearbook

that shows i have experience in using particular programs because i had to use them in yearbook, but then what can I put under qualifications?

Now i found a job that i want and I feel bad trying to leave because my department only consist of 2 people and when I'm gone, many are worried that my department will be what hurts us the most because no one can deal with this supervisor that overworks her employees, like I did.

I recently got a full time job offer doing school counseling, and I currently work part time in a supermarket. I was supposed to start work on the 18th of OCTOBER but it was moved up to the Tenth of this month. Here's the problem.... I want to keep both jobs in order to afford an apartment. I just found out not even 30 minutes ago that I have a last minute Orientation TODAY at six oclock at the counseling job.. but I have to work tonight at the Market job at 6:30! I know the choice would be to call out from the MARKET job, but I did last week-- 3 times, because I was injured, and they're already Pissed because of that. Today I called and asked what time i was coming in, so I know if i call out now, It will seem like i'm totally bluffing. I desperately need to go to the counseling job, but i don't want to get fired from the market job... WHAT SHOULD I DO?!?!?!?!?!?

My husband accepted a job offer recently, and now that he's been there for a month or so, he's been improperly trained and thrown to the lions, so to speak, responsible for MUCH more than what they had put in the original offer, and is underpaid for the stature of work the he is performing while working 70+ hours per week. He absolutely DREADS going to work to the point where it makes him sick. He deals directly with the owner of the company daily and is cussed at, berated, and treated, really, very poorly for things that they haven’t completely trained him for. He’s reprimanded by the owner for asking questions and has been told to “just deal with it” when he’s mentioned how he’s being spoken to and treated.

He doesn't want to just quit because of his difficulty finding a job last time & we cannot survive on one income. He IS looking for another job in the meantime. I just hate that he goes through this every day.

No flames please! I just need some “outside” opinions..

or because you like what you do? Is it bad to choose a career solely on the fact that you'll be making a lot of money? What if you need the money to pursue your dreams and to be really happy and fullfield?

Ex: A girl's dream is to own her own clothing store. She wants this more than everything. She wants to be her own boss. If all goes well with the clothing store maybe she'll invest in other things. But, to do this she needs money. A Lot. She decides that in order to make money she needs a high paying career, so she decides to be a Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. Annually she'll be making around $150,000. With this money the clothing store is possible. If all goes well she will leave her job and dedicate herself and time to her business. If not, then she will have her career. Good plan? Bad plan? Horrible plan? If it's a bad plan, then what are her other options?

Under Texas Labor Laws is it unlawful for a restaurant employer to force their delivery drivers to clock out while they take deliveries? Has anyone heard of this practice? A friend of mine was told to do this. I told her under no circumstances should she clock out while using her car to make deliveries. They should be paying for gas also am I correct? There was no rule made prior to hiring stating she would have to take deliveries w/out pay. I tried looking for answers to this question on the TLL website but found nothing. I gave her a # posted on the website but I am also checking other places. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

A bit of background about the job. It's a business analyst graduate/entry level position. The job starts Feb next year and I applied 3 weeks ago and was interviewed last Wednesday. However they reloaded the job add last Friday and I rang them on Monday to ask whether this means my interview did not go so well and they said that the reloading of add just means that Friday was the closing date and they wanted to get as many applicants as they can

Now I already emailed the interviewer and thanked her for her time after the interview and she said "no problem we will be in touch with you in next few weeks". Considering they are looking for more applicants should I email them again and briefly re-state my interest in the job and some of my skills? If so what words should I use? I was thinking of making up a question but I can't think of one that hasn't been answered.

Should I email again? what words should I use so that it doesn't come out as desperate comments thats bothering them?

Recently, i've been very unhappy in my job it's getting to the stage where I can't wait to go home and then am dreading having to go back to work the next day, Sunday's is a nightmare because i'm constantly thinking, great I have to work tomorrow. When I wake up in the morning, I really just want to stay in bed, i've lost all motivation and have been really down over it. I've been working here for a year and have been applying for jobs but getting no where. This is my first job since leaving uni and I would never quit a job without having another, so i'm not lazy just really fed up, I get treated like a slave and don't get any credit for it. I really would like a job related to my degree, which is in Marketing but not sales, i'm working in shipping at the moment but feel like i'm wasting my life. I'm really stuck as to what to do next? I've tried agencies with no luck and applied on my own for jobs but there just isn't much out there at the moment and no one will give me a chance!

During a dispute about wages,a hotmail email account belonging to another company my employer owns (Not the one I work for) got spammed continuously for about an hour. The mails were confirmation emails from a company I have no connection with.
Because the secretary of our company logged into the other companys hotmail it lagged the computer.
I said it was me causing it,as a joke.
I now have a written warning from my company
"You admitted in front of 3 members of staff to maliciously spamming my "****autos" hotmail address.I will not tolerate such an act of gross misconduct and unlawful activity whilst you are a member of my staff."

Can he do this? The only evidence he has linking it to me is my claim to staff it was me,the server isnt mine that spammed it,or is my IP involved,or do I work for the company targeted.None of it involved works PC's in the "attack"

Hi
my son is 17 and is studying professional cookery this year at college!
he has already done an introductory year.
He is a little worried as he has always found the academic side if things hard!!
He passed his level one and is now starting NVQ2 (today)
Im sure he will be fine but what happens if he can't cope so well with the written work/exams?
does this mean he will not be able to become a chef even though he has gained a merit (level one) for aspiring chef/

thankyou

I plan on making films in the future, and I know I may need a filming permit. The thing is I don't know anything about them or where to get one. I checked my state and can't find much information. Can I get a permit to film in my whole state, or is it just a city thing? Do I have to get them renewed or whatever? How much do they cost? My state is Connecticut and I can't find any info that would be able to help me. Can someone help me?
