Hi
my son is 17 and is studying professional cookery this year at college!
he has already done an introductory year.
He is a little worried as he has always found the academic side if things hard!!
He passed his level one and is now starting NVQ2 (today)
Im sure he will be fine but what happens if he can't cope so well with the written work/exams?
does this mean he will not be able to become a chef even though he has gained a merit (level one) for aspiring chef/

thankyou

Chefs are made by the food they cook.

Assistant chefs are made by their ability to put up with head chefs.

There is work out there for people of all levels, and there are many paths to being a chef. In fact, our qualifications don't guarantee us work.

If he wants to be a chef, then it is likely that he will work harder at the academic side of his studies.

One problem is that if he believes he will do badly, he may not even try. Encourage him to try. Maybe he won't find it as hard as he thinks. In the worst case situation get him a tutor.
