Hi,

I communicate from a far distant era when many businesses had a chattering telex machine somewhere, eating rolls of punch-tape, and spewing forth rolls of paper.

The big mighty item duly sent and received text items world-wide at a rate of about 300 characters per MINUTE,
Wow !

I found my big books of business cards dating up to about 1990, for companies in mainly India, the Mid-East, and parts of Africa. Someone said that it could well be that these offices still have an active telex service.

Yup, I could telephone them and ask, but to no avail, as I not suprisingly no longer have a chundering machine at this end of things.

I ponder, for all you comms. wizards, even if I were to locate a distant working telex machine, what sort of coding / format might be understood by it.
How do I slow transmission down to an intelligible level of transfer.
I assume we are talking ASCII coding ?

Any advice ?
Bob

if I pay off my home by a sale before the Sherrif sale date for a public auction? I received a letter that gave me until Jan 2nd to pay off the mortgage or stop the foreclosure by a repayment plan or paying what I owe past due. If my house is sold before then and I pay it off, what will it reveal on my credit? A payoff? or a foreclosure?

- Increase the winning odds, cap the winnings to a million or so, limit the monthly amount spent on tickets....people to the right/left of you are suddenly winning jackpots, & people who don't want to participate also win by paying no tax!!!

I'm talking anywhere from Medical Bills to unpaid balances from an old checking account. Don't judge me... none of my debts are anywhere near to reaching their SOL, nor do I plan on waiting them out until then. I'm just curious.

I just got an eviction order for some tenants. I'm hoping they just leave so I don't have to file for possession. If they just leave, I am concerned they might get sticky fingers and take air conditioners and tools that are at the house that are listed in the lease as being mine. If they take these items, can I call the cops for robbery? I can prove ownership of everything.

I am the HR Director at my company and yesterday, one of my employees asked me a few questions regarding our policy on unused vacation and sick days. I told him that unused vacation days would be reimbursed to the employee at the end of the year but that unused sick days would not be reimbursed. Not wanting to use his vacation days, the employee responded "Well I think I feel a cold coming on." He then winked and walked away.

This morning, the employee's supervisor told me that the employee called in sick today claiming to have a soar throat. I told the supervisor about the conversation I had with the employee and naturally his supervisor is quite irate and does not want me to pay the employee for the sick day.

I'm not sure what to do about this issue. I do not think I can legally deny the employee use of his paid sick day but I am also sure that he is misusing this benefit. What should I do?
