My ex husband owes 26k in child support arrearage and a judgment for $5,500 for premarital debt he didn't pay. I have personally put a lien on his house for the $5,500 he owes me and I'm sure the Child Support Office has also reported the arrearage against his home as well. He is facing more contempt charges for failure to pay support and has just informed me he is facing the bank foreclosing on his home. If the bank takes the home doesn't the liens have to be paid since they are child support related?

I live in michigan and i have my mortgage with GMAC mortgage. I am 11 days late on my payment. I called the company to let them know that I wouldn't be able to make my payment until the 2nd of November. The lady told me my account had already been put in collections. She then put me on hold and she came back and told me I could pay with check over the phone on the 2nd. (I was planning to do that anyways) She then told me I had to call them back 5 days before the 2nd to let them know i would still be making the payment on the 2nd. Here's my questions:
Why was my account put into collections its not even 30 days late?
Is being in collections the same thing as a foreclosure?
Why would i have to call them 5 days before the 2nd to let them know i was still going to make the payment? I already told them i was going to why do i have to tell them again.
This lady has me very confused and worried. This is the 1st time i have ever been late on my payments.

Thanks!

Help! The underwriter for my home loan would not accept the appraisal done on the property. He says the price should be much lower then the seller is willing to go. Has this happened to anyone? Why is this so important? I thought it was normal to pay more for a home than it is appraised for.

It's true. If it's the first time you've heard of this, look it up. If you've already heard of it, look it up some more.

Have moved into a new student house. Our electricity/gas (through EDF) is in everyone's name. We've just received our first bill. However, there seems to be a bit of confusion about how this bills should be paid. One of my housemates was talking about talking the bills splitting the cost and everyone individually paying their bit directly to the company while another is under the impression that despite it being in all our names, that we can only send one payment. We haven't had any luck trying to get hold of customer services to clarify but was wondering if anyone knew the answer.

Is there a website that lists privately owned apartments, not just the company-owned ones?

Prospective roommate has a felony (drug possession) from 15 years ago and this is a HUGE problem, trying to find someone who will rent out to us in spite of this. The only places so far that are willing to approve are in pretty shady neighborhoods... :(

I just got fired today. the manager said i threw paper at him, which was not at all true. The company never even asked if i did it or not. i was going to try and give me side but when i went into the office i already saw my check on the table so i felt it would be pointless. when i put the paper on his desk he even asked me if i wanted a copy. thats not something you would say to someone who just threw something at you. also i was fired about 2 or more after this alleged incident took place. the manager never even said anything to me about it until he said i was fired. this was at-will employment but what options do i have? i know if i said he touched my penis in the restroom they wouldn't just fire him, they would atleast ask him about the acquisation. any ideas would be apprcated.

I'm currently being paid as a 1099 wage earner and I also own an S-Corp. The company who pays me the 1099 income is not able to pay the S-Corp directly because they pay with a pay card from Bank of America, and BofA only issues paycards to people with social security numbers.

Since my S-Corp has no social security card, it can't get a paycard and hence can't be paid directly.

My question is how can I get the 1099 income into the S-Corp without having to show I've personally earned 1099 income? I want to make it so my S-Corp has earned the money, not me. I want to avoid the 15% self-employment tax.

Thanks

I just got a letter from the local tax bureau in PA where i used to live stating i never filed a 2005 or 2006 return, and that i am liable for 1% local tax during this time.
