I have a regular job, but I also do freelance work on the side. I have made approximately $30,000 this year in freelance work. I haven't spent the money, and I have probably $5000 in expenses related to the freelance work. Will it make a difference in my tax standing if I start a business as opposed to just counting it all as personal income?

I am a salesperson at a car dealership. My only vehicle is a company provided demo. Basically, if I reach a certain sales goal every month, I get to use the car. We have to turn them in after 5k miles and get a new one. They are not registered to us. I've noticed lately that I do alot of sales work outside of work as a condition of having this company car. People stop me all the time to ask me about the car, ask me about other cars, or to get my card, and I catch people peeking in and reading the window sticker quite often. The actual purpose of the car is to be used as a "demonstrator" meaning it's basically a moving ad for the dealership. As a result, is it possible for me to deduct any costs associated with the car, such as gas or repairs, because no matter where I'm driving I'm still technically conducting business? I don't have any other reason to contact a tax professional and I really don't want to spend alot of money to get a simple answer. Thanks to anyone who can help!

Here is are some basic definitions of marginal revenue...
-The change in total revenue that occurs when a company sells an additional unit of a product.
-the extra revenue received by a firm for selling one additional unit of a good
-Revenue generated from selling each additional unit.

So really, my question is, what is this "one additional unit"? I can't seem to grasp what it means and therefore I don't understand what marginal revenue is. Please someone help, before I go insane.

Hello I would like to know if any one can explain the step bye step process of getting started in a small
Business. When I mean step bye step I mean every thing from finding a good location, to buying the location, getting a business loan, getting a business license, and making sure your place of business is up to code. Etc.. I would like this info to be about owning and running a dinner. I really don’t know much about
This field I just know that owning a dinner is something I really wanna do

Other things Im not really sure how to do
Paying taxes at the end of the year on your business
Payroll
Insurance on your company and employees
Finding good places to buy your products from
Pricing your menu items
Coming up with unique menu items that sets you apart from the competition
Marketing your business
Managing your expenses

And any thing else that I did not mention that im sure to need

Also im sure your asking yourself if I don’t know any thing about the business why

my wife and i are leaving houston. We are charlotte bound. We took a nice trip in august and we love it. And we are both in banking so the city is just what we need. Plus where we want to live is only 15-20 minutes from the city and the traffic is nowhere as bad as Houston.

So here goes my plan. We own a house here in Houston & have a prepayment penalty up in May. So we figured we would put the house up in March-April, assuming it takes 90-120 days to sell on average here. That and I dont want to sell before May to avoid the PrePymtPntly.

We want to start building a house in Charlotte from the ground up in Feb-March. A house takes maybe 6 months to build so that takes us into August-September.

By that time the house will have been up for sale from April until August/September. 5-6 months. If it does not sell then we can put it up for lease or may do that from the start.

employment, we figured we would ask around the time the house will be built in charlotte 4 a transfer
