Many mortgage companies are going out of business.. is there a way I can find out who the employees are?

My husband owed on one credit card totaling $300.00. A collection agency called in June and stated he now owed $900.00...but they would take whatever he could give them at the time. My husband wrote them a check a month ago for $500.00 and the woman on the phone with the agency said things were squared away.....

.....then today, this same collection agency withdrew a total of $1565.00 in addition to the check my husband just sent...totaling over $2,000.00. We are beside ourselves but figure they had the checking account number and decided to withdraw for more money.

The bank will not stop payment and there is no answer at this collection agency.

Is this legal?? My husband and I are devastated and do not know where to turn next.....a lawyer??

When I go to the Goodwill and get a slip for 50 dollars or 100 dollars, can I deduct that from my taxes? How does it work? Someone told me charitable deductions on taxes are only good for when you have donated at least 1,000 dollars worth of stuff...???

(how can they do that) ....

I was recently hired as a part time employee at a local agency, and I have a bit of responsibilities that are solely mine. The pay is really not enough, and the job duties are below my competency (I have a BA); however, I accepted the offer with the knowledge that I probably will not stay for over four months.

I am currently going through testings and various interviews for full time and much better paying positions elsewhere. I know that the hiring at these places will take two+ months. Ideally I would be hired by the end of the 2007 year, but I really cannot say.

The people at the local agency are genuinely very nice, and I feel bad about the situation that I will probably have to put them in. There is only one woman training me, and she is just great. However, I have not told anybody about my situation since the full time position is still not for sure.

When should I let my employer know about my desires to leave?? Is it weird to be feeling guilty?

For example, in LBS Union or Bank of America or Washington Mutual? Or does it depend on the bank?

Do banks allow you to withdraw 3000 dollars cash in thousand-dollar bills? If not, then how much cash can you withdraw? And/or in what bills?

Ok, I have a HUGE credit card bill...like, 15k. i have only one credit card, so this is it. i take home about 2,600. i have a home, i have been investing for 3 years in my Roth IRA and 403b.

so far i have put my car up for sale for a less expensive car, that will make my payment about 1/2. i've also cancelled my retirement contributions for this year (i know that's bad but that's my motivation...to get back on track and contributing again ASAP) and i have taken a roomate who will may about 1/3 of my mortgage and 1/2 the bills.

i'll have about 1,100 a month after i've covered all my bills. but obviously i have to buy food and gas. i've already informed friends to NOT ask me out for dinner, etc... and i don't need any clothes for work or anything.

i feel like i've done all that i can as far as freeing up my income to start attacking this bill.....yet it's not enough!!! i'll still be doing this for maybe 2 years...but i need to get it done THIS YEAR.

Hello. I subleased my apartment back in November 2006, and the old tenant and I went together to the management office. They switched over the lease to my name and charged her $50 for carpet cleaning, which she paid at that time.

My lease then started immediately, the same day. They never inspected the apartment. They never cleaned the carpet. I'm pretty sure I would have noticed the furniture slightly out of place or the carpet wet, something. At the very least a note on the door saying someone had been in the apartment for maintainance. Nothing. I never complained because it wasn't like they charged me for the cleaning.

Now that I moved out, I left a note with the keys when I dropped them off reminding them that the previous tenant already paid the carpet cleaning fee, but you never cleaned my carpet. Now, 2 weeks later I get my deposit partially refunded to me... minus a $50 fee for carpet cleaning.

Can they actually charge me for this? Doesn't seem right.

The feature that displays headline news, aggregated by stock ticker for those companies in my portfolios within my.yahoo suddenly stopped working yesterday. Is this a yahoo problem? If not, does anyone know how to recover this feature? I no longer can find this within the content selection offerings. My email to yahoo customer support has gone unanswered (not even an auto-reply)! :-(

I recently was brought on as the manager of a small department. I have a pretty hardworking employee who had a task assigned to her today. I got the feeling that she cut some corners on this task, so I asked her how she did it. She basically said that she did it the right way. I went back and checked later in the day after she left, and it was clear that she lied to me about one particular which probably won't cause any problems, but certainly could.

So this leads me to my main question. I have only been there 1 month. I have used this month to learn the business, and have been pretty laid back with them. I didn't want to address something with someone and then find out I'm wrong. I've really only gotten stern with people on serious issues. Now that I know she lied to me about this, how should I address it? There is a very small chance that she did it on accident, but I highly doubt it.
